個人的には「ジョンの魂」並みの名作だと思います。
　よく怨念とか情念とか言う言葉で語られますが、実はとてもストレートな歌の数々が心を裸にしてくれます。
　歌詞は、理解しようとすれば非常に難解です、ただ、一つひとつのフレーズを単純に受け入れていけば歌の世界のイメージがぼんやりと浮かんできます。
　腹の底に消化されずに残りますが、決して胃もたれのようではなく不思議なさわやかさが残ります。何ヶ月かに一度必ず聴きたくなるアルバムです。

最近のお笑いじゃないけれど嫌いじゃないけど生理的に無理な人は一生聞かないだろうアルバム。音楽を快楽、ドライブ用のBGMとして聞く人には無用な歌たち。飾りのない、そのままの歌たち。まずは聞いてみて下さい。

　早川義夫という伝説的な人物に対して25年前の私は異常なまでに渇望感があった。それはジャックスの音源が入手困難であったことや、早川義夫が川崎で本屋をやっていて、もう音楽シーンに戻ってこないという状況も影響をしていた。その中でこのアルバムは入手できる数少ない一枚であった。
　しかしながら正直なところ「サルビアの花」以外は聴いていて辛かった。ちょうど同じ頃にＲＣサクセションの「シングルマン」が再発されたがこれも「スローバラード」が秀逸であったが他は聴くのが辛かったのと似ている。いや「シングルマン」はまだ「ヒッピーに捧ぐ」など何曲かは聴くに耐えたからこのアルバムの方がきついかもしれない。
　バンドすらうまくやっていけない自分。もうスポットライトが当たらない方向に行くのではないかと思う自分。そんな自身に対する絶望感がこのアルバムを支配しているからであろうか。そんな早川義夫のすべてを受け入れる自信がなければこのアルバムを楽しめないであろう。
