１０００年女王（原作版）〜メーテル・レジェンド〜宇宙交響詩メーテル（本作）〜銀河鉄道９９９という時系列が完成しますので、９９９ファンは必見だと思います。本作は３０分アニメ×１３本ということもあり、「メーテル・レジェンド」では頼りなかったメーテルが徐々に強くなっていく様子など人物描写やストーリー表現に厚みが見られます。また、いかにも死にそうな登場人物であっても簡単に殺したりせずに物語の中で精一杯生きる様子を描くなど、９９９のテーマでもある「限りある命の尊さ」を踏まえた演出が多いのも感動的です。
本商品は最終話までの３話です。ハーロックやエメラルダスが参加する艦隊戦などもあって派手さには事欠かないのですが、戦闘シーンの長さの割には単調な戦術（戦艦の砲撃が中心）が繰り広げられ、いささか大味に思えました。
あと仕方のないことですが、昔からのファンとしては声優が変わってしまったキャラで違和感を覚えることが多く残念でした。やはりハーロックは井上真樹夫さんにやってほしかったです。そんな中でラー・アンドロメダ・プロメシューム役の潘恵子さんの演技が非常に素晴らしかったです。

今回のSpaceSymphony宇宙交響詩メーテルは結構、良かったですね。
レオパルドの信念や部下バーンバレルからの信頼の大きさがよく描き表されていました。
そしてプロメシュームとのメーテルやナスカ達の戦い。
どのように銀河鉄道999の内容へバトンタッチされるのかが見所です。
宇宙交響詩メーテルをSymphony.5まで買った人や初回限定版を買い逃してがっかりしている人、最後がとても気になる人、銀河鉄道999などの松本零士ワールドへの思い入れがある人は買ったほうがよいのではないでしょうか

前作　メーテルレジェンドの流れを汲みつつも、多少　設定変更しつつ、うまく　まとめ上げた作品に仕上がってると、思います。
これを期に　旧作　９９９、１０００年女王を知らないのなら、ぜひ一度　ご観賞してみては！
作品の密度が、ぐぐっと上がります。
