Like its predecessor, the album contains songs by some of rocks finest songwriters: Bob Dylan, Jagger/Richards, Van Morrison, Robbie Robertson, Dr. John, and others. Also included is a personal introduction by Van Morrison.

　Solomon Burkeは1960年代から活躍しているソウル・シンガーの重鎮です。この2005年の"Make Do With What You Got"は本人が3部作のつもりで作った"Don’t Give Up On Me"(2002)と"Nashiville" (2006)の間に発表されたものです。
　"Don't Give Up On Me"はバラードが多い激渋アルバム、"Nashiville"はその名の通りのカントリー・アルバムでしたが、この作品は3作品の中で最も元気でソウル〜ロック色の強い一枚です。ディランのバラード"What Good Am I ? "は妙に元気で、この人って陽気な人なんだろうな、と思わず苦笑しました。ザ・バンドの"It Makes No Difference"ストーンズの"I Got The Blues"なんかもいい感じでやっています。ブラスや女性ヴォーカルの入り方などが60年代後半を想起させる古いスタイルで、60-70年代のロックが好きな僕としては非常に心地よい作品でした。古いロック・ファンにもお勧めできる一枚だと思います。

前作に比べると、明るい音作り。前作は John Henry, 今回は Don Was
のプロヂューサーの好みの違いかな。でも、大王さまの地の底から響きわたるヴォーカルは増々快調！バックはオルガンは前作のRudy Copeland
が続投、ギターにRay Parker Jr.,Reggie Young, ドラムスはJames Gadson を配し、B. Dylan, The Band, V.Morison, Dr. John, R.Stones,
H. Williams, の曲を取り上げ、風貌そのままの歌声で圧倒！1940　3.21
生れの60半ばの大王様は意気軒高！　次回作はメンフィスでダン・ペンのプロデュースで是非、小さいお願い。

ミスター・バークの新譜、最高です！
前作同様、様々な楽曲を見事に料理しています。
今作の聞き所はストーンズのナンバーのI got the bluesを
カバーしたことです。ミック・ジャガーはソロモンから
多大な影響を受けて前ツアーでは彼をゲストとに呼んで
ライブでも競演しています。その敬意に答える為に今回の曲を
カバーしたのでしょう。どんな名曲も彼が歌えば彼の楽曲に
思えるのがすごい所です。
今回、ザ・バンドの名曲をカバーしてくれたのがうれしかったです。
オリジナルよりもエモ-ショナルに熱唱しています。
最近、映画等で話題になっているバーク。是非、このアルバムを
引っさげてジャパン・ツアーを行なってもらいたいです。
