過去のSOILWORKのアルバムを振り替えってみれば今回の新作はブルータリティー/アグレシッヴ度がより高くなっています。以前のアルバムでは激しさが余り少なくなっており、 「おい、どーした? SOILWORK?」と言った感じでほんの少しだけガッカリしました。しかし、今回の新作を聴いて前作でのガッカリ感が直ぐに消えました。さて、今回のアルバムに就いてですが、ヴォーカルのビヨーンの怒声がパワーアップしています。元PANTERAのヴォーカル、フィル・アンセルモそっくりです。更にSOILWORKのアルバムの中では評価の高い『THE CHAINHEART MACHINE』ではギター音が凄いと、聞いていますが、こちらもギター音ならば負けてはいません。基本的にSOILWORKと言えばメロディック・デス・メタルなのですが、今回の新作ではモダン・ヘヴィネス系/スラッシュ系に近くなっています。最近メタル好きの方々も飽きずに聴けるアルバムだと思います。最高のアルバムでした。

前作「FIGURE NUMBER FIVE」や前々作「NATURAL BORN CHAOS」
を踏襲した内容で、攻撃的ではあるが聴きやすい。
前作よりギターを強調したみたいなことをインタビューで言っていたが、それほどでもない。
本作でドラムを叩いたダーク・ヴェルビューレンはなかなかのテクニシャンで、
2nd「THE CHAINHEART MACHINE」以来、久々に冴え渡ったドラミングが
SOILWORKのアルバムで聴けて嬉しい。
特に6曲目"Stalement"や、10曲目"Blind Eye Halo"が凄いことになっている。

前々作、前作、そして本作と、
作を追う毎に歌メロがつまらなくなっているのは気がかり。

このアルバムに関しては、私がソイルワークに期待してる部分を全く裏切らない内容でした。

ヴォーカルであるビョーンの歌も、一曲目を聴いただけで明らかに上のレベルに上がってますね♪

ニュードラマーであるダーク・ヴェルビューレンのドラミングも凄まじいものがあります。
特に10を聴いた時は、アゴが外れそうになりましたwwwよくあんなブラストをして音圧が落ちないもんですねぇ…。。。

ギターに関してもソロがあまりないとかは全然気にしないのですが、やはりギタリストの人にとっては物足りないのかも…。

しかしまあ、今回のプロデューサーの一人で、レコーディングとミキシングも担当してるダニエル・ベルグストランドのドラムサウンドは凄まじいの一言ですね。
ノクターナルライツやインフレイムスでも実証済みですが、このソイルワークに関しても理想のドラムサウンドだと思います。
(何気に2曲目なんかで聴けるシンバルの音は部屋鳴りなんかがして驚きましたw)

私がソイルワークに期待してるのはメロディーは勿論の事、聴いていて「おおっ！」とか「気もち良い！」と思わせてくれるリズムの創り方なんですが、今回もさすがソイルワークという、絶妙のタイミングで絶妙のリズムをかましてくれます♪♪♪
