YMO結成の前段階での細野晴臣の、イエロー・マジック・バンド名義のソロ作品。オリジナルは1978年発売。坂本龍一、大貫妙子、鈴木茂等参加。はらいそとは、ポルトガル語で、楽園の意味。
いま、なお、新しい、エキゾティックな「チャンキー・ミユージック」を展開。本人と、小池光夫によるデジタル・リマスタリング、新インタビユー掲載予定。

１９７７年頃の細野晴臣は、それはもう怖かった。
なにがというと、そのルックスがである。前歯は真っ黒、目はギョロギョロ、やせ細り髪はぼさぼさ。
おんなじ時期のストーンズのキースリチャーズ（ほとんど廃人）と、見まごうばかりの不気味さである。
そして、その音楽ときたら、、。

イエローマジックオーケストラのﾃﾞﾋﾞｭｳ当時、中学生だった僕は、友達の部屋でこのアルバムを拝聴した。
友人の兄所有のもので、「これが彼らの元となったアルバムだよ、」との解説付きでした。
僕は、このアルバムの異様さに口をあんぐり。まさに「ドン引き」した。
なにこれ！東京ラッシュ？インドネシア人が「ナニアノネ」と歌い、沖縄？フジヤマママ？おっ！ＹＭＯだ、なんか鐘が鳴ってる、えっ？なに？モアベターよ？えっ？終わり？
、、、。想像を超えた音楽に、冗談抜きで震えあがったものである。

そんな僕が、その後時を経て、細野氏のソロワークを集めるなぞ思いもしなかった。
僕のもっているのは、８８年のＣＤ化再発のもの。
１０年以上たって、僕はこのアルバムの魔力にとりつかれたのである。

最近、僕は知り合いになった音楽好きの若い人たちに、このアルバムを盛んに勧めるが、その反応は、一様に「いいねこれ！」である。
軽自動車の１ＢＯＸで、ばかでかい音で聞く奴や、ほとんど毎日のように聞き、（うちの息子のように）いっしょにハミングする中毒症状を表す者も出てきた。

３０年を経てもひとつも色あせない。それどころか、常に新しい発見があり、新規のファンをどんどん取り込む。
このようなアルバムが、日本のポップシーンで存在することを、私はとても誇りに思うし、ほとんど奇跡だと思っている。
（リマスター盤ほしいな、、、。）

文句ありません。何にも。
YMOのきっかけになった曲「ファムファタール」が入っていることでも有名ですが、全体を通してティンパンが主です。
とにかく細野さん林立夫さん、鈴木茂さんのリズムが素晴らしい。
「ウォーリービーズ」のレゲエリズムなんて鳥肌がたちます。
とにかく聴いてみて損はしない一枚だと思います。

クラウンからアルファに移籍してのソロアルバム。当時、苦悩していた細野さんは新バンド結成を企てるも頓挫。
その代わりに製作されたのがこのアルバム。
ディスコミュージックとそれまでの自身の音楽をミックスしようと試みたアルバム。
ただ、ここでその試みは半ば中途半端な結果になっている。
が、それは後にYMOという最強カードを切る事で完成するわけで、この「はらいそ」はその前夜祭のようなものとして位置付けられるのではないでしょうか。
とは言っても豪華な前夜祭ですが…。
