これでは受けるのも当然だ。TOKUと小沼のソニー・ジャズ人気コンビに、父親のDNAを音楽でも語り口調でもはずませる日野賢二。見るだけでもわくわくしてきそうなドリーム編成の現代チームだ。が、言うまでもなく、その音楽は目に飛び込んでくるのではなく、全身の皮膚を震わせ右脳と左脳を行き来し、次に足腰にずしりと来る。その訳は、スタジオ録音にもかかわらず、サウンドの99%がライヴでできているためだ。13分超の長尺で3人のソロが炸裂する(2)と(6)その好例。生身の人間が等身大で繰り広げるジャズの響になっているのがいい。と同時に、TOKUは歌も唄える。小沼も、即興家と表現者の両面にしっかり示しをつけ、日野はボトムをシャープに縁取る。つまりこれって一粒で二度美味しい何とかと一緒。味の構造が薄っぺらじゃないのだ。まさかと思った“肉体派で行こう”のPRコピーも、これなら納得。もちろん、目から受け止めるにも、この顔ぶれならいい涙を流せるかもしれない。 (成田正) --- 2005年03月号

TKYは肉体派で行こう、というメンバーの言葉通り生々しいライブ感に満ちている。各人の音がぶつかり合い調和し高めあう。CDからでも彼らの熱が放出されているかのようなそんな気持ちにさえさせられる。聴きながらスピーカーに向かって思わず身を乗り出している自分がいた。期間限定ユニットという話だが、多少間が開いてでもユニットを継続させて、その成長ぶりを私たちに見せつけていってほしいバンドである。

三人のベクトルがバラバラで、取り留めない散漫なアルバムになってる気がする。
これならそれぞれのソロを聴いたほうがお得。

自分はTOKUのファンで、今まで何回もライブに行ってる。
TOKU単独のライブもあれば、マサちゃんズや川嶋哲郎氏とのライブもあった。
今回は大して期待せずにＣＤを買った。毎年行われている境港の
妖怪ジャズフェスに今年はTKYとして来るというので予習がてら買った。
買ってすぐ車の中で聴いてみた。熱い！熱いジャズ。
同じ年代、新世代の５人が集まって奏でる演奏は熱いの一言。
ジャズにはなんだかわからないフリージャズの音楽もあるけど
TKYはフリーに近いジャズ、フュージョンだと思う。
んでボーカルは１曲だけです。後は全部インスト！！！
１０分以上もある曲もあるので、かなりエキサイティングな演奏も聴けますよ。
TOKUもいつものフリューゲルではなく、トランペットも吹いている処も
チェックですね。
