1984年の映画です。中学生の時にTVで放送されたのを見て、妹と一緒に感動(興奮)した想い出があります。今になってみると、この映画は、その後続くSF(タイムスリップ)の映画のバイブル的な存在だったのだなと思います。20年経って今回はDVDで見ましたが全てのシーンを覚えていました。
やはり、主人公が「昨日」まで一緒に居た友人に出会うシーンが非常に印象に残残ります。是非、皆さんも見て下さい。

　この映画は意外と知られていないのではないでしょうか。私も、この映画を最初に観たのはたまたまテレビの洋画番組でした。レーザーから戦艦を消す実験。その実験は結局は失敗に終わるのですが、同じ科学者がまた未来のアメリカで同じ実験に取り組みます。結局は過去の実験と未来の実験が相乗効果をもたらして次元の穴を作ってしまうのです。
　先に過去の世界に戻ってしまったジムとの未来の世界での出会いは本当に涙を誘いました。それはジムが味わってきた苦労が手に取るようにわかるからです。そして、地球を救うべくタイムホールへ突入して実験に使われた戦艦エルドリッジの動力源を切るデビッド。デビッドの戻る先はもう未来の世界でしかありませんでした。ナンシー・アレン演じる恋人との再会。感動のラストシーンです。

先が読めない近未来へのタイムスリップ物で、面白かったです。ただ確かではないのですが、アインシュタインの理論を実験しようとした実話がモデルと聞いたのですが？　さしずめＸファイルの分野でしょうか？
主人公がオートマチックの車や若者のファッションに驚いたり、今は電話の無い家はないわ、というタイムスリップ物定番の台詞が好きですね。
