　コクトーツインズは、およそ浮世離れした世界を持ったバンドですよね（寂聴尼よりも遥かに）。
　80年代前半は、パンク/ニューウエーブに刺激されてインディーズから出発したＵＫバンドが、次々に成熟した独自な作品をリスナーに提供した時期でした。その中にあってもコクトーズの成長は、目を見張るものでしたね。荒地の草の中に芽を出したかのように思えたのに、あっという間に蕾を付け、美しい彩やかな花を咲かせてしまいました。それが、このアルバム『トレジャー』だと私は思っています。ここでの音響は、前作よりもさらに洗練され、パンク的な精神を宿した律動と耽美的な文学世界が、見事に融合しています。エリザベスの妖精のように優美で奔放な歌唱も、際立っていて気持ちいいですね。その後の彼らは、激情的なサウンドを希薄にして、さらにフェミニンになって行き、私の関心から離れて行きましたが．．．。「澱んで腐った水溜りのなかに青空を見る魂の切なさ、その感情をこそ大切にして欲しい」と阿木譲氏は、この頃のコクトーズを評しています。うまいですよね。
　実は私は、このアルバムの後半の、より装飾性の強まったサウンドの何曲かが、余り好きではありません。前半の劇的な流れが後半も続いたら、すごいアルバムになっていたことでしょう。ありがとう、コクトーズ。成長し続けようとするバンドが、その過程でかつてない美しい姿をさらした一瞬のような音楽だ。

季節的に、ちょうど冬の時期に、聞くのにぴったりの１枚だと思います。ギリシャ神話をモチーフに書かれた曲だそうですが、曲のタイトルが何を意味しているのか、さっぱり分からないのが困る。それと詩が添付されていないのが残念で仕方ない。曲調の雰囲気だけで判断するのは、はばかれるのですが、フレイザーの宝石のような声は絶品です。

「パンドラ」を深夜のＦＭで聞いたのが出会い。
森のザワメキを感じさせる音。キュートでコケティッシュな歌声とワイルドで投げやりな歌声が、一人のボーカリストによるものだとはビックリ。

2曲目の「ローレライ」は最高に可愛い曲だ！
