BOФWYが、後のミュージシャンに与えたインパクトは、かなりの物でした。ルナシー、黒夢、グレイ等々、後にビジュアルバンドと呼ばれる方たち、グレイのテルも、BEAT　EMOTIONにすごく衝撃を受けたと語ってました。当時、巷では、BOФWYのコピーバンドがあふれ、すごい人気でした。氷室いわく、このくらいのレベルのアルバムは、いつでも作れたと言う様な発言が有り、私も凄いなと思った記憶があります。BOФWYが、マリオネット、あるいはサイコパスで頂点を取ったと思ってる方が多いと思いますが、正直、私は、このBEAT　EMOTIONでテッペン取ったと思ってます。B・BLUEを聞き、ONLY　YOUを聞き、当時を思い出します。まさか、この後、解散へ向かっていくとは思いませんでした。

1986年に発売された5THアルバム。
この作品で初めてチャートの1位を獲得した。
すべてを東京で録音した作品で、
今まで以上に歌ものを意識したつくりになっている。
また、当時はまだLPの時代で、LPは12曲、CDは14曲収録だった。
シンプルだが厚みがあり、メロディアスだが破壊的。
もうあれから20年がたとうとしているのである。

ボウイ結成から解散までの６枚のアルバムの中で、最高傑作といえる珠玉の一枚。

一曲目の「Ｂ・ＢＬＵＥ」から「オンリーユー」へと続く楽曲は「カッコ良い」の一言、このアルバムからファンになった人もかなり多いハズ。

言葉の玉手箱と布袋が言う程の氷室の作詞センス、シャープさと独創的メロディラインでもはや完成の域に近づいた布袋のギタープレイ。
ボウイの魅力そのものと言える「ヴォーカルとギターのいつ崩れるかもしれない危ういバランス」「４人の個性が織り成す刹那的な魅力」が全面に緊張感をもたらしていて、聴き応えは満点である。

楽曲の内容もハードロックからラブソング、フュージョン風、レゲエ風味まで幅広く、このバンドのメンバーの音楽センスそれぞれが飛び抜けて高く、氷室、布袋のみならず、松井、高橋の全員が「ＢＯΦＷＹ」という括りの中に収まり切らない程成長した事が伺える。

バンドとして頂点を極めた感があり、この後解散してしまうのもやむなしと思える、納得の一枚だ。
