本作『Mind, Body & Soul Sessions』は、R&B界の天才少女ジョス・ストーンによる2004年のコンサートの記録。会場はニューヨークのアーヴィング・プラザだ。ショーは、伝説的シンガーのベティ・ライトのあいさつで開幕。ライトと言えば、このイギリス娘の驚異的なデビュー・アルバム『The Soul Sessions』で共同プロデューサーを務め、セカンド『Mind, Body & Soul』で数曲を共作した人物である。その後、裸足で登場したストーンがパフォーマンスを開始。演奏曲目は両アルバムから吟味して選ばれており、ファーストからの「Super Duper Love」やセカンドからの「You Had Me」が含まれている。ストーンを力強くサポートするバンドの実力も見事で、とりわけパワフルなドラミングを聴かせるシーザー・グリフィンは個性的だ。ストーンはパフォーマーとして輝いているし、ソウルフルな歌声も好調なのだが、将来的にはあの甲高い笑い声を何とかしてもらいたいところ。とは言っても、ストーンはまだティーンエイジャーだ。CDで彼女の洗練されたオールド・ソウルを聴く限りでは、とても信じられないのだけれど。（Kathleen C.
