   第2次大戦下、モロッコの首都カサブランカの町には、戦乱を避けて渡米しようとする人々が集まっていた。米国人リックは、自分が経営する店で、かつての不倫の恋の相手、イルザと再会する。熱い想いが心をよぎるが…。
   大戦裏話として書かれた戯曲を映画化したのが本作だ。42年のアカデミー作品賞ほか、全3部門を受賞している。粋なトレンチコートに身を包み、ハードボイルドな魅力あふれるハンフリー・ボガートがリックを演じる。イルザは、若く美しいイングリット・バーグマン。主題歌『時の過ぎ行くままに』の哀愁と、「君の瞳に乾杯！」など映画ファンをうならせた名セリフは、特別版でも健在だ。古今東西のメロドラマのお手本となった作品である。監督は老練なマイケル・カーチス。（アルジオン北村）

　誰が何と言おうと　この映画の大ファンである。

　人は時として　理屈なしに好きなものがある。カレーだとかニンニクだとか　阪神タイガーズであるとか　例の枚挙のいとまはない。
　僕にとって本作は　かような映画になっている。

　少し冷静になって考えてみる。まず　イングリッドバーグマンが美しい。彼女が一番美しかった映画が本作である。

　ボギーが格好良い。彼が一番かっこよいのが本作である。

　シドニー　グリーンストリートが　悪役である。彼が一番格好が良い悪役をやる映画は本作である。（いや　マルタの鷹か？）

　ピーターローレが　情けない。彼が一番情けない映画が本作である。（これもマルタの鷹かもしれないが）

　ということで　結局冷静とは言いがたい説明だ。

　誰が何と言おうと　この映画の大ファンだ。

　現代の眼から見て観るに堪えない部分は、ハンフリー・ボガートの「クサさ」くらいでしょうか。バーグマンは現代の女優でもこのひとに勝る美貌と演技力はそうはいませんし、テーマ曲とも言える「時の過ぎゆくまま」は数多くのジャズメンにカバーされていることを見ても十分スタンダードとして定着したと言えるでしょう。他の方も書いておられる通り、この作品の見事さはラスト・シーンにあります。どう見てもハッピー・エンドで終わりそうもない作品が、こういうかたちで終結するとは・・・途中で挿入される「ラ・マルセイエーズ」のシーンも、ナショナリズム高揚という目的を自然に達しています。実に巧妙。

　最高のプロパガンダ映画。もちろん、ふつうの恋愛映画としても秀作です。

映画に出てくるセルフがほとんどどこかで引用されている映画というのもすごいもんだ。
「そんな昔のことは覚えていない。」「そんな先のことはわからない」「君の瞳に乾杯」等々。
映画の本当の基本的教科書的作品といえる。
それよりもボガードかっこよすぎだし、バーグマンきれいすぎ。
今見ても無駄がない水準を超えた傑作だと思う。
ある種のハッピーエンドといえるラストシーンも見てて気持ちがいい。
画質も音声も値段考えれば十分及第点。
生涯一度は見るべき映画。
