キーボード･プレイヤー兼アレンジャ-の
ヴィンス・クラークが
オーディションで選ばれたアンディ･ベルとともに
85年に結成したエレ･ポップ･デュオが
イレイジャー。

ヴィンス・クラークは、
デペッシュ・モードを1stアルバムのみで脱退。
女性ヴォーカルのアリソン・モイエと組んだ
YAZOOではアルバム2枚を発表している。

イレイジャーではヴィンスが作・編曲＆キーボード、
アンディが作詞＆ヴォーカルを担当する。

50'sのライチャス・ブラザーズなどを
フェイバリット＆ルーツとするメロディと
ムーディなシンセ・ビートを主体とする
80'sエレクトロポップ・サウンド。
同時期に登場したペット・ショップ・ボーイズとともに
ニューウェイヴ期を生き抜いてきたサウンドである。

そのサウンドは80sから変わってはいない。
『ラヴ・ボート』以来5年振りとなる
通算11作目となる本作においても、
極めてスムーズなソングライティングで
80s王道エレ･ポップを気持ちよさそうに
披露している。
これほどの長期にわたって
コンセプト・テイストを変えずに
クォリティの高い楽曲を生みだし続けてきたのは
驚異である。

ニューウェイヴ再評価の気運が高まるなか
是非、こういう80s王道エレ･ポップを
聴いてみてほしいと思う。

erasureは88年発売のinnocenceに物凄くはまりました。
当時は自分も若かったのでPOPな感じが好きで、とにかく
聞きまくりました。「A Little Respect」大好きな曲でした。

それから時間がたち、忘れかけていた頃にLove Boatが発売される事を
知り懐かしさから購入しましたが、正直言って期待はずれで
あまり聞かずに今では「部屋のどこかにあるだろう」位の扱いです。

先日、TVで「Don't Say Love Me」を耳にする機会があり、今回は
この曲目当てに購入しましたが、他の曲も良かったです。
初めて「Breath」を聞いた時は何故か理由も解らないけれど
涙が流れました。
しばらくはこのCDが一番のヘビーローテションになりそうです。

最高です。恥ずかしいけどその一言につきます。

前作のカバーアルバムでは先の見えない感じでしたが
（カバー自体そうそうハマる確率も少ないし、
世の中的にカバーが流行ってて食傷状態だったとフォローしておきますが）
全くの心配無用。ちゃんと盛りかえしてる。

第何次目かの黄金期突入か！って感じです。
