エレピを弾くエバンスにサイケデリックなジャケット。ワルツ・フォー・デビーやポートレイト・イン・ジャズを愛するエバンスファンの方々は幻滅を感じるかもしれません。しかしこのＣＤはイケマス。本当に。まず一曲目のファンカレーロ。いきなりのエレピ(Fender Rohdes)でのイントロからしてハードボイルドでカッコイイ。今までのエバンスにはなかったファンキーな味わいだ。それに絡みつくエディゴメスの乗りの良いブンブンベースもいかしてる。テーマを一通り演奏した後は、アコースティックピアノでのリリカルなアドリブをかます。いままでよりも曲の表現力がより広がったという感じ。エレピはメインではなく、あくまでも添え物で、曲全体を活かすための小道具として使われている。２曲目、３曲目ではアコピだけの純粋のピアノトリオ。相変わらずのエバンス節が冴え渡るが、どこか楽天的というかウエストコースト的な爽やかで明るい雰囲気に満ちているのです。そして、４曲目が問題のエレピを交えたワルツ・フォー・デビーのニューバージョンだ。出だしはアコピでテーマを堂々とスケールの大きいソロで聴かせる。その後にエレピに替えてテーマ、アドリブ、ベースとのインプロビゼーションと進んでいく。最後にまたアコピにもどりテーマを明るくプレイして終わる。全体的にアップテンポのデビーであり、カラッとした明るさとエレピの心地よいリズムが印象的です。残りの曲でもアコピとエレピの入り交じった演奏とアコピのソロ曲と続いていきます。全曲が聴きもので棄て曲は一曲もない。以前は少しうるさいと感じられた、ゴメスのベースもエレピのバックで聴くととっても聴き易くて快感でした。レコーディングキャリア上での新境地に達したエバンス。ゴメス、モレル（ドラムス）とのコンビネーションも良く、エバンス最高の一枚であることは間違いないでしょう。ＬＰ発売時にはメチャクチャ売れたそうです。さあ、つまらない固定観念を捨てて、早くこっちに来て下さい。
