   スタンリー・キューブリック監督の『2001年宇宙の旅』とともに、その後のSF映画の流れを作った大ヒットシリーズの第1作目である。
   ケープ・ケネディから打ちあげられた宇宙船が、1年6か月後、ある惑星に不時着する。しかしそこは猿人が支配者であり、人間は下等動物という星だった…。
   決死の逃避行を試みる宇宙飛行士テイラーに、名優チャールトン・ヘストンが扮している。その「衝撃のラストシーン」は、まさに戦慄するほどショッキング。また、猿人たちの特殊メイクはアカデミー特別賞（メイクアップ）を受賞し、のちにメイクアップ賞が設立するきっかけとなるなど、映画史のエポックメーキング的作品だ。監督は『パットン大戦車軍団』でも知られるフランクリン・J・シャフナー。（伊藤文恵）

・・・なだけに、パッケージの写真を見て、卒倒しました。
これはないでしょう。そら有名なラストシーンですけど、
これは、いかんでしょう・・・

映画自体はもちろん名作ですし、オチを知ってからでも何回見ても楽しめると思います。でもDVDのジャケットはどうかな…。古い映画とはいえ見た事ない人もいるだろうし店でDVD手に取ってジャケット見たらいきなり楽しみなくなっちゃうって感じがします。ユージュアル・サスペクツだったとしたら、キャスト表の所にカイザーソゼ…〇○○・○○○○ーって書いてるようなもんだと思います。

ジャケットがありえない。
作品は☆５つ　ジャケットは☆０
どういう神経でこのジャケットにしたのか理解できない。

内容は素晴らしかった。メイクアップも驚くほどいいし、
ストーリーも引き込まれラストにも驚愕。
なのに・・・
ジャケットのヘストンの気分です。
