本盤はFSMの、"FSM SILVER AGE CLASSICS / FSM Vol.4 No.1" です。
オールカラーの充実したライナーノーツ。
思わずジャケ買い、「猿の惑星」シリーズで、
音楽が「最後の･･･」はレナード・ローゼンマン、
ドラマのタイトル曲も収録、その作曲が「スパイ大作戦」「ブリット」
「燃えよドラゴン」のラロ・シフリンと聞けば、買わないわけにはいきません。

ご存知「猿の惑星」シリーズは５本あり、作曲家も有名どころ。
１作目「猿の惑星」と３作目「新猿の惑星」が、ジェリー・ゴールドスミス、
２作目「続猿の惑星」と５作目「最後の猿の惑星」が、レナード・ローゼンマン、
４作目「猿の惑星征服」がトム・スコット、
そして「猿の惑星」テレビシリーズは、ラロ・シフリン。

本CDは、「〜征服」14曲、「最後の〜」17曲、テレビシリーズ1曲、の計32曲を収録。
映画としては、２作目以降、特にこの２本は評価が低く（私もそれには同感）、いささか分が悪い１枚。

「〜征服」は近未来で、猿の反乱、独立の話なので、音楽もいささか'７０年代風軽音楽でチープな感じ。
しかし、音楽は、「タクシードライバー」(バーナード・ハーマン作曲)のサックス奏者でも有名な、トム・スコットです。
だから、少しジャズ風だったりするのですね。

「最後の〜」ではさらに未来。猿はさらに進化していて、曲もエキゾチックで野蛮な雰囲気。
レナード・ローゼンマンらしい、オーケストラ音楽でスケールを出しています。

「テレビシリーズ」も同じくエキゾチックなメロディで、他の作品のシフリンのイメージとはまったく違う。
また、私の記憶しているドラマのテーマ曲とは違いました。
