内容（「CDジャーナル」データベースより）

後にロック映画の傑作『あの頃ペニーレインと』を撮る事になるキャメロン・クロウ監督初期の名作。ローリングストーン誌のジャーナリストだったクロウ監督が選曲するサントラは毎度の事ながら素晴らしい!

私はサントラをあまり購入しない方ですが、
このアルバムは違いました。
DVDとCDがセットになって完結するような作品。

このアルバムの特徴はシアトル勢の
脂の乗りきった（パールジャムは1stをリリースする前）パフォーマンスが花開き、
それはスクリーンでも爆発しています。
スクリーンには様々なアーティストのロゴなどが、
ストリートの壁などに描かれ映し出され、
小物へのこだわりなど感じさせます。
当時は先輩格にあたるアリス・イン・チェインズとサウンド・ガーデンの
パフォーマンスを見ることができますが、
このサントラではこのアルバムでしか聞くことのできない
パール・ジャムのトラックが2曲入っています。
ラブ・モンガーズはハートのウィルソン姉妹が結成した
アコースティック・ユニット。

随所で流れるポール・ウェスターバーグの曲を聴けば、
カーステレオでさえもフロントガラスがスクリーンとなりそうです。
（シーンを思い出しすぎて気を取られすぎないように！）

サントラでこれだけの内容は他に出会ったことがないですね。正直自分の中で五つ星つけれるのはこの「シングルス」だけです。(例外としてアイ・アム・サムのサントラもビートルズのカバー曲のみの収録ですがかなりの好盤!)参加アーチストも五つ星、収録曲のバランスも五つ星、で且つ豪華な面々だからといって捨て曲無し、無論曲も五つ星なんです。またこのサントラのすごいところはシアトル(グランジ)ブームを築きあげた面々のエナジーがビンビン漲っているところですね!!なんの因果か素晴らしいアルバムなんですよね。
ちなみに映画も予想を裏切り、楽しく、爽やかで新鮮な感じのするなかなかの映画でした☆
