John Hiattバンドのギタリストとして、そしてJimmy Buffettバンドのツアー・ギタリストとして活躍する珠玉のいぶし銀ギタリスト、ソニー・ランドレスのライブ・ソロ・アルバム。ブルース・ファンも唸らせる得意のスライド・ギターに涙。当代随一のスライド・ギターが炸裂する。2004年4月23日と24日にLAで行われたライブを収録。

   ムハメド・アリがかつて“蝶のように舞い、蜂のように刺す”と豪語したように、ルイジアナのソニー・ランドレスもスライド・ギターをロケットの船のように唸らせ、バレリーナのように踊らせることができる。このライヴ・セットは彼の実力を思う存分発揮させており、これほどのパワーと精度で弾ける者はそうそういないことを証明している。ランドレスのベテランのリズム隊であるベーシストのデヴィッド・ランソン、ドラマーのケネス・ブレヴィンズが、ピンと張りつめたインストゥルメンタルのセット「Native Stepson」「Z. 地道に、ケイジャン路線でアルバムを発表してきたミュージシャンズ・ミュージシャン、ソニー・ランドレスの入魂のライブ。未発表曲が3曲。その他の曲は近2作から5曲。Outward Bound以外のアルバムからは各1曲ずつ。バックはGoners。このメンバーでの演奏は、セッションを除くとOutward Bound以来となります。オープニングから快調にとばしていて、本当に一人で弾いているのと思うような、野太い音でグイグイ。ドラムがちょっと能天気すぎるんじゃないかなと思えるほど元気です。聞き所はディープなブルース曲2。ちょっと押さえ気味のボーカルとはじけたギターの対比が絶妙です。1、4、5、10といったインスト曲では、スライドギターがまさに洪水のように押し寄せてくるといった印象。逆に7、9といったボーカル曲ではスタジオ盤に近い仕上がりで、少し欲求不満を感じます。ラストの11はもうひとつの聞き所。10分近い演奏で、至高のスライドプレイを堪能できます。全編を通して3人でやってるとはとても思えない内容で、大満足の1枚。64分では足りないのでもっと聞きたい。DVDも見たい。と聞き終わったそばから思ってしまいました。

ジャケットからは想像できない程、とっても熱いギタープレイです！！
こんな風にギターを奏でられたら人生楽しいだろうな！と思えます。
歌声も渋く2曲目はジミーペイジとポールロジャースが昔組んでいたＴＨＥ　ＦＡＲＭ（？）
のような雰囲気で思わずにっこりしました。
レイヴォーンも大好きだけど、ランドレスも負けず劣らず好きになりました。日本人はランドレスの方が好みに合うと思います。

Landreth期待のライヴアルバム。スライドの唸りが今にも聞こえてきそうです！
