オーストリアの女性Voシンフォニックメタルバンド、エデンブリッジの4th。2004作
これまでにアルバム3枚と、DVD付きライブアルバムを発表し、
女性Voファンの間では確固たる地位を確保したこのバンド。
Voのサビーネ嬢はANGRAのアルバムなどへの参加もあり、さらなる認知度が増しているはず。
その清らかな天上の美声はもちろん健在で、その母性をも感じさせる歌声には
いっそうの表現力が備わっており、聴いていて思わずうっとりとなる(*^-^*)
プロダクション的にもドラムの音が力強くなり、メタルとしてのサウンドにも磨きがかかっていて、
おそらくNIGHTWISHなどとの相互影響によるものか、確かなクオリティ向上が感じられる。
今回は曲にエスニックなメロディなども取り入れていて雰囲気に幅を持たせているのも効果的で、
時にシンフォニックに、時にメタリックに疾走しながら、メロディアスなギターフレーズを聴かせる
ランヴァルの作曲センスも光り、クオリティとしては過去最高の出来だと思う。

サビーネ嬢の歌声は、メタルとはある意味対極に位置する
壮麗かつ宗教的な心洗われる美声であり、それと破壊的な
メタルサウンドが芸術的にまで融合・昇華されたサウンドは、
彼らしか表現できない固有の境地ではないでしょうか。

サビーネ嬢の歌声が非常に心地よく、楽しむことが出来るし、
今回の作品はどこかエスニックな雰囲気を醸し出しており、
アジア人である私たちにも非常にアピールするのではないで
しょうか。
また、１曲１曲の時間も長く、でも決して冗長ではなく、
丹念に仕上げられておりピーンっと緊張感が漂う傑作に
仕上がっています。

お勧めです。

ネット上に公開されているMOVE ALONG HOMEを聴いて、サビーネのその歌声と秀逸なメロディーセンスにやられてしまい、本作を購入するに至ったわけだが、そのMOVE〜だけでなく他の曲も素晴らしく、このようなバンドを今まで見過ごしていたことに後悔しきりだ。プロダクションも素晴らしく文句の付けようがない。名盤決定！
