クライバーンというとチャイコフスキーコンクールの第１回優勝者で、冷戦時代、ソ連に一泡ふかせた英雄となったのが記憶にある。しかし、当時私はまだ15歳。絶頂期の彼の演奏は良く知らない。RCAのライブ･レコーディング･シリーズSACDが出たと知り、購入してみた。チャイコフスキーの一番とラフマニノフの２番といういいカップリング、録音は58年と62年で、いかにSACDとはいえ、音がやや湿り気を失っているのは仕方ないが、それでも十分満足のいく音だった。とくに、ラフマニノフの2番はいい。クライバーンをじっくり聴いたのは今回が初めてだが、欧州、とりわけロシアのピアニストとの違いに驚いた。明るいというか、軽くというか、あまり深刻ではなく、いままで聴いたことのないラフマニノフで十分楽しめた。私は輸入盤を買った。1000円以上安い。このところのドル安のせいだろう。

レコードプレイヤーが動かなくなって10年。このクライバーンのレコードを聞くことができず、どうしたらよいかと考えていたところこのCDをみつけました。クライバーンのチャイコフスキーとラフマニノフを100回以上聞いてきた私には、他の演奏家のCDでの同曲を聴いても、違う！って感じでちょっと不満でした。私にはクライバーンのピアノしかありません。

諸石幸生著のクラシックがわかる超名盤１００で紹介されていたので購入しました。
溌剌とした演奏で２つの名曲を聞かせてくれます。
特にチャイコフスキーの方は、歴史的名盤といってもいいと思います。
ラフマニノフの方は、アシュケナージの演奏に似ているなと思いました。もちろん、こちらの方が録音は先ですが。
私のＣＤプレイヤーはＳＡＣＤには対応していませんが、ＣＤ層もＤＳＤリマスタリングされており、音質が良いのに驚かされます。
