この時代のJ-POPを思い返してみると、実はいい曲が溢れすぎてて、その価値がみえにくかったのではないか、という考えが今日あります。
いま出回ってる曲にもいいものはありますが、たまに、アイデアが出尽くしたんだろうか？やはり80~90年代のメロが凄すぎて、その模倣作ばかり生まれてはいまいか？等と思いたくもなる瞬間があります。仕方なく「いい曲だね。」と言ってしまう自分が情けなくなる時もあります。

この曲はニューミュージックからJPOPとよばれる時代の過渡期に生まれた、当にいい曲。今こそその価値をもう一度かみ締める時期なのかもしれません。
実際聴いてみれば、歳をとって初めてわかる、胸にぐっとくるよさがありました。92年当時発売した頃は中学生でしたので、当り障り的な「よさ」は感じていました。しかし詞の、特にこの曲にはある「行間」の空気の濃さまで、中学生が気付くわけもありません。
そしてボーカルの懐の優しさを感じさせる大人の声。上手いだけじゃない、それを超越した表現力というか、声の力のなせる業です。
「きれいな指してたんだね」という時の、温かさの裏にある儚さを、ロマンスグレーというのでしょうか。

本当に、なんて言葉はありきたりだし、ありえないことばですが、本当にこころの底からすばらしい曲、名曲なんだと僕は言います。
