中心人物である渡辺香津美／ミッキー吉野の代表名義で
１９７８年に発売されたアルバム『カレイドスコープ』がコレです。
１９７０年代にクロスオーヴァーの時代を築いた若き獅子たちの覇気に溢れた熱演盤で、
デンオン・ライヴ・コンサートの２００回記念特別セッションを収録したスタジオ録音盤です。
（※１９７８年２月２６日、東京・太平スタジオにて録音）
で、なにが面白いかといいますと選曲された収録曲目もさることながら、
この記念特別セッションに参加しているメンバーが、いやはや超豪華といいますか、
現在では信じられない面子が集まって演奏しているから、さあ大変です（笑）。

とりあえずＣＤ帯に印刷されている豪華メンバー名を書き出してみますと、
渡辺香津美(g)、ミッキー吉野(key)、向井滋春(tb)、土岐英史(ss/as)、
植松孝夫(ts)、岡沢茂(b)、ポンタ村上(ds)、松本博(p)、横山達治(perc)、
土屋昌巳(g)、井上憲一(g)、竹田和夫(g)、ジョージ紫(hammond)、ジョン山崎(clavinet)、
スティーブ・フォックス(b)、トミー・スナイダー(ds)、カルメン・マキ(vo)、酒井俊(vo)
と、いわゆる邦人ジャズ人脈からミッキー吉野系ゴダイゴ人脈まで、
百花繚乱の人選で僕も思わずＣＤ帯を見返してしまったぐらいですから、
僕以外にも「おおっ~！」と思われた方もたぶん何人もいらっしゃるでしょう（笑）。

僕のお目当ては竹田和夫氏のゲスト参加だったのですが、この頃から早くもジャズ／フュージョンのフィールドへ
すでに足を踏み入れていたのかと思いますと、なんだか感慨無量であります。
そういえば１９７８年発表の竹田和夫の1stソロ『ミスティ・モーニング・フライト』を聴けば、
たしかにフュージョン系の音作りをすでにはじめていましたよね。改めて納得です（笑）。

このアルバム、初ＣＤ化にも関わらず「最新リマスタリング」で
税込価格もたったの１５００円でしたので、興味をもたれた方は是非一度聴いてみて下さい。
往年のクロスオーヴァー名曲を当時の若き日本人プレイヤー達がどのようにアレンジして
演奏していたのかも聴きどころのひとつであります。
