心ある人々にひっそり聴きつがれてきたこの名盤もとうとう再発ですか。実にウレシイことです。
いまや独自の音楽を追求し続けている求道者リチャード・トンプソンがかつての妻、リンダと発表したアルバム。
リチャードのギターとリンダの歌声からなる簡素な歌が全てのシンプルな作品です。アレンジもホントに最小限。

このアルバム、ブリティッシュ・フォークの文脈で語られることも多いのですが、受ける印象としてはフェアポート・コンベンションなんかのトラッド・フォークより、日本産四畳半フォークの方にはるかに近いでしょう。言葉とメロディーにフォーカスを絞ったあたり、実は極めて日本人好みだと思います。

“Just The Motion”の美しいセンチメント、その素晴らしさを是非。個人的には歌声に癒されたい時に聴くアルバムとしてはビーチボーイズ“Pet Sounds”と双璧。
