グリモーというピアニストは、深いロマンティックなうねりのある音楽に体当たり的に没入していくようなスタイルを持っている。にもかかわらず、演奏が重たくならず、むしろみずみずしく爽やかな印象すら与えるのは、彼女の独自の持ち味だろうか。しかしあまり音量が大きくないので、実演でコンチェルトなどを聴くと、少し物足りなさも感じた。２００４年の来日時にN響とブラームスの一番を演奏したときもそうだった。しかしアンコールで弾いたラフマニノフの「音の絵」からの一曲は見事だった。おそらく彼女の場合、コンチェルトよりも独奏曲のほうが向いているのではないか。このディスクは、その意味で彼女の美質がもっとも発揮される曲目ではないかと思って購入した。期待にたがわぬ演奏だった。十分にロマンチックながら臭みのないラフマニノフである。これがグリモー１５歳の時の演奏だというのだから、驚きだ。これから、彼女の録音をもっと聞いてみたいと思う。

　ラフマニノフのソナタといえば壮絶な技巧を必要とし、ホロヴィッツを代表とする大家ピアニストの薬籠中のもの、という印象が長らくありましたが、そこに当時１５歳の少女がさわやかな新風を吹き込みました。
　まずは潔癖すぎるぐらいのテクニック。ついで少女らしからぬ力強さと鮮やかさ、そしてそれを嫌味に感じさせないヨーロッパの伝統とも言える思慮深さ。これらが粒だった音としてきちんと表現されているのが好ましいです。
　今までのこの曲のイメージとは違うさわやかなラフマニノフであり、違和感のある方も多いと思いますが、この女流が少女の頃からすでに天才であったことを示す、貴重な美しいＣＤです。おすすめします。
