　デスクトップにはwindowsを使用していたのですが、大学で使うノートを探していて稼働時間と値段からiBookを選びました。メモリーを５１２MBにして基本的にレポートの作成、Web、Mailを中心に使っていますが十分な機能と速度ですね。動作も安定してます。OSがUNIXベースなのでTex環境を作るのが楽でした。
　元々、Macを使ったことはなかったのですがMacOSXは結構違和感なく使えます。トラックパッドがワンボタンなのは戸惑いましたが。なれてしまえば気になりません。また、トラックパッドのタップ機能は便利です。トラックパッドをタップすることでクリックの操作になる機能ですが、これとボタンを組み合わせれば右クリックの機能を使えます。つまり、多ボタンマウスをわざわざ接続しなくても右クリックができてしまう訳です。よくワンボタンマウスが使いづらいとWindowsユーザーに言われますがこの機能があるので問題になりません。Windowsユーザーも稼働時間がものすごく短いWindowsノートを選ぶよりはiBookも視野に入れてみてもいいのではないでしょうか。
　ただ、画面が小さく、HDDの容量も不足ぎみです。３０Gになってますが、OS、アプリケーションが最初から入っているので空き容量は２０G程度です。複数モデルがでてるので目的にあったモデルをちゃんと吟味した方がいいでしょう。１２インチモデルは画像処理、ムービー制作、音楽制作、などハードな使い方をする人向けではないです。しかし、軽く使うノートが欲しい人には十分でしょう。

~価格は据え置きで，クロック周波数が200MHzのアップと，無線LAN標準搭載で，コストパフォーマンスは最高です。
バッテリーも公称６時間持続なので，実稼働でもなんとか映画１本のDVD再生は可能なくらいです。
性能も，２代目iBookG4から512KBに増量された２次キャッシュのおかげで，かなり軽快に動作します。
メインメモリーは256MBなので，同価格帯のノートと同じ~~ですが，複数アプリを同時に使うならメモリ増設は必須でしょう。
ただ，同価格帯の統合チップセットを利用したWin機とは違い，ビデオメモリー用にメインメモリが削られることはありません。
OSにこだわらず安いパソコンが欲しい人や，私のようにiPodのライブラリ編集とWebブラウジングとOfficeアプリをメインに使う人には最高のパソコンです。

星一つ減点の理~~由は，来年発表のOS10.4（Tiger）のCore Imageに完全対応するビデオチップではないことです。
ただ，現状のOS10.3での動作速度はかなりのもので，私が支給されて日常使用しているPen4のデスクトップ（2.6GHz，メモリ640MB）と比較しても，体感速度は互角以上と感じています。~

とりあえずOS9.1からXにと、大きく乗り換える事になったのですが、これがまた結構使い勝手が違っていて、Winチックなとこが結構あるなぁなんて思いました。
９より断然使いやすいです。環境設定なんかも簡単にできるようになってるし、何かといい。特にExposeが便利ですね。

iMacG3と比べて、光ファイバーでのインターネットの速度が変わりました。断然速くなりました！G3ではADSL８Mと変わらなくてショックでした…。

今後のことを考えてWinにするか相当迷いましたが、今となってはiBookで最高！こっちを選んでよかったです。
まず、見た目。
次にやっぱりMacの方が使いやすい。
そしてキータッチ最高♪
愛着が湧いてお気に入りです☆

画面が小さく、レポートの１０ptの文字サイズは小さく見えますが、問題なく、それ以上にどこでもPCを持っていける感じが最高です。
友人などが持っているA4サイズのPCは重い重い。これも見た目以上の重さはありますが、問題ない重さ。2.23kg、問題ないです。

不満な点は、傷や汚れが特に何かやっていないのにいつの間にかついているのが……。せっかく綺麗なのに。
つやつやでなくてもいいんじゃないかなぁ？と思いますが。

Mac最高です☆
デザイン、使いやすさ、いう事なしです。
不便と感じた事はないです。
