talking headsの全オリジナルアルバムからのベスト盤。選曲は無難で良いと思う。

以前EMIから2枚組ベストが出ていたが、どうせコンパクトに聴くためのベストなので2枚組より1枚もの今作のほうが良いと個人的には思われる。

解説はYo La TengoやMoby等のミュージシャンがお気に入り曲にコメントを寄せたものの日本語訳(+歌詞日本語訳)。

余談だが最近このCDを発売してるメーカーはなかなか国内盤をださないなぁ...(以前は変わったものでもバンバン国内盤を出してたのに)

僕はフランツ・フェルディナンドのファンでその影響でトーキング・ヘッズのことを知りました。
今回このベストアルバムを聴いてみて、非常におもしろい音楽性をしているなと思いました。
簡単に言うと「遊び心がある」といえばよいのでしょうか？
音楽的には非常に高いクオリティを保ちながら「真剣に遊んでいる」という感じです。
これからおそらく僕のようにトーキング・ヘッズをリアルタイムで経験していない人間から、
トーキング・ヘッズは再評価されるバンドだと思います。
このベストアルバムは、間違いなくそのきっかけになるアルバムだと思いました。

８０’ｓコンピを編集するみなさん、トーキング・ヘッズを忘れていませんか！？
確かに、割とマイナーで通好みなアーティストですが、
カッコイイ曲がたくさんあるのですゾ！！
せめて名曲”ロード・トゥ・ノーホエア”は、コンピ集に入れてくださ〜い！！
サイコ・キラーは最高にイケてるし、
ナッシング・バット・フラワーズはとても美しい名曲です。
次回編集のコンピには、トーキング・ヘッズをよろしく！！
ところで、”ブラインド”を聴いていると、
「ぶらん、ぶらん、ぶらんぶらんぶらんぶらんぶらん！！」
と、何かにぶら下がるネイキッドジャケットのチンパンジーを想像しちゃうのは、
わたしだけ？
