脳梗塞で倒れた舘野泉が、3年間のリハビリを経て、右手に後遺症は残るもののだいぶ回復して、感動のステージ復帰を成し遂げた。これはそのときのプログラムからノルドレンを除いた4曲を収録。


内容 (「CDジャーナル・レビュー」より)

脳出血から3年。右手は完全には復調していないものの、左手だけのプログラムでこの5月にステージ復帰を行なった舘野泉。40年に及ぶ演奏活動と100枚以上のアルバムをリリースしてきたというキャリア持つ円熟のピアニストだけに、どんな形にせよ再び活動できるようになったことを心から喜びたい。本人も「一本の手で描ける充実した世界に触れた」と述べているが、確かに音の絶対数は少なくなったが、それで音楽の質も目減りしてしまうようなことがまったくないことを、十分に証明してあまりあるアルバムだ。優しい表情のバッハ、味わいのあるスクリャービン。そして現代の作品にも造詣の深い彼らしい、完全にこなれた上で自然な表情を帯びているブリッジと間宮。伝わってくるものは、執念とか執着のような脂っぽいものではなく、ただひたむきに音楽を愛する心。どこまでも美しい演奏だが、かのレオン・フライシャーのように(病は違うが)右手が回復することも祈りたい。 (堀江昭朗) --- 2005年01月号

　これが左手だけで弾かれているなんて、とても信じられません。ことにバッハはすごい。

　倒れられる前より、さらに音楽の世界を広げられたと思います。

　訳もなく、涙が湧いてきて、そして、力が湧きあがる、そんな演奏です。

左手だけのこの曲がこんなにも胸に迫るとは。
彼の演奏会を聞き逃した。
復帰後、初のCDということで聴いてみた。
ブゾーニ編曲のシャコンヌは今まで沢山聴いているが、
ブラームス編曲のものは初めて。
曲そのものはブゾーニ編曲と比べるとけして煌びやかではない。
それゆえに演奏家の姿勢が如実に表れるのではないだろうか。
舘野さんの喜びがひしひしと伝わってくる。
そう、生きる喜びを。静かな感動が広がる演奏です。

　館野泉さんの演奏する左手のための曲集です。ブラームス編のバッハ：シャコンヌをお目当てにこのCDを手に入れました。ブゾーニ編のような重厚さや華やかさはありませんが、聴き応えがありました。
　華やかなピアノの世界がある一方で、左手だけの演奏ならではの心を打つ音楽があることに感銘を受けました。
