先に出た英国盤はCCCDとノーマルCDの2タイプが流通しており両者の価格差も大きく(当然のようにCCCDのほうが安くノーマル盤は1000円ぐらい高かった)内容は先の藤森様レビューの通り折り紙つきだったもののオーダーに二の足を踏んでいました。今回のアメリカ盤（ASTRALWERKS)もアマゾンで予約のインフォメーションが流れた時点(投稿時点でも変わっていませんが）でもイメージ写真にはCCCDのものが使われカスタマーサーヴィスに問い合わせてもそれ以上のことは分からないという返事でした。それでもアメリカ盤ならCCCDはまずありえないと判断し予約して発売日を心待ちにしていました。本日届いたディスクは間違いなくノーマルCDです。安心して注文して良いと思います。内容は言うまでもありません

'91年リリースされた「ハイ・クオリティー・ソウル」12曲にFAME作品
を加えた全18曲です。権利関係でMERCURY4作品は無理としても、Bobby
Robinson制作のあと2曲(Collectables盤収録)は何とかならなかったも
のかと思います。しかし日本の海賊盤が原因でFAME作品のCD化が出来な
かったと言う話があるだけに正規盤リリースは大歓迎といったところで
しょう。
目玉のFAME作品はどれも甲乙つけがたいですが"Walk a Mile"や
"Time Has Brought"は必聴必殺です。CAPITOL作品では"Nobody But You"
がSam Cookeスタイルで最高ですし、"It's a Miracle"は語りから入る
熱いスロウバラッドです。
録音データやレアな写真はありませんが、お宝の一枚になるはずです。

Sam Cookeさんのﾌｫﾛﾜｰと言われるWillieさんですが、#3/14/18と言ったSam Cookeﾅﾝﾊﾞｰや彼が取り上げたﾅﾝﾊﾞｰでの確かに伸びの有るﾎﾞｰｶﾙをｽﾑｰｽﾞなﾘｽﾞﾑに乗せる部分と熱いShoutに転じる対比等ﾎﾞｰｶﾙｽﾀｲﾙに共通する部分が多い。曲作りに於いても彼は積極的で#5/6/7/12/13/15/16/17と大半の曲で参加しているが、Deepに迫るだけで無くPopﾌｨｰﾙﾄﾞとのｸﾛｽｵｰﾊﾞｰを狙う辺りがSamさんの精神を受け継いでいる。一方でその曲調からSamさんの幻影から逃れ、更に一層のｽｹｰﾙUpを計っていた事も推察出来る。

Hightowerさんはその名の通り背が高かったそう。#1/2/5/6/9/10がRick HallのFameでの録音で有るが#1/4等で聴かれるShout部では本家を凌駕する部分も見せてくれる。#5/6と言ったｽﾛｰﾅﾝﾊﾞｰに於ける包容力の有るｽｹｰﾙの大きなﾎﾞｰｶﾙとﾊﾞｯｸとの一体感が産み出すｸﾞﾙｰﾌﾞは現在でも生命力に溢れ輝きを放っている。

Deep Soulが熱かったあの頃へ瞬時に引き戻してくれる　名ｼﾝｶﾞｰによる濃密な世界を是非！
