MacOS X v10.2.8以降に対応したMac用日本語入力プログラム。今バージョンでは、変換におけるさまざまな弱点を解消する新技術「スマート・インライン変換」を搭載。MacOS X v10.3の新技術「TSM Document Access 」と、独自開発のエルゴソフト・コンテキスト・アナライザー(文脈解析エンジン)の融合により、入力する前後の文章を取り出して文脈を解析することで、正しく変換することが可能となった。また、英字の後に「てにをは」などで始まる文章を入力した際の誤変換や、数字にカンマを入力しようとして「、(読点)」が入ってしまうなどの問題も解消することができる。そのほか、新アルゴリズムによる変換性能の向上が図られたほか、「ロゴヴィスタ電子辞典」(システムソフト電子辞典)シリーズの辞典が閲覧が可能になった。さらに、辞書管理ツール、文字パレットも一新し、辞書管理ツールでは、Rendezvousによるユーザ辞書の同期機能が実現したほか、文字パレットでは検索機能が強化された。本格派電子辞書、三省堂の国語+百科大辞典「新辞林」、研究社の「新英和(第7版)・和英(第5版)中辞典」をバンドル。

わたしはWindowsでATOKを使用していますが、MacはずっとEGBRIDGE
です。性能や変換効率については実物に触れるのが一番だと思いますので、
そちらはEGBRIDGE15体験版
に任せます。

５つ☆はメーカーとしての対応を高く評価してのものです。

　OSXのマイナーアップデートにも即対応パッチがリリースされますし
（今バージョンからDLに正規シリアル入力を要求されます。登録控は決し
てなくさないように）、OS・他社アプリケーションに負担をかけない設計
にも好感が持てます（Macromedia/Adobe製品との相性はOS9時代から
良好）。

　最後に、ATOKでは別パッケージ（バンドル版）になってしまう英和・
和英・国語電子辞典が最初から付属する事も隠れたセールスポイントと
してあげておきましょう。

一時期ATOKを使用していましたが、ハングアップしやすいなど若干不安定なことも有りEGBRIDGEに舞い戻ってきました。やはりmac用としては歴史あるEGBRIDGEのほうが、安心して使用できるような感じです。変換効率ではATOKという意見も多いようですが、安定して使用できることの方が大事かなと思います。

EGBRIDGEで便利なのはなんといっても電子辞典との連携。
変換したら確定せずにそのままoption-shift-1で新辞林や和英中辞典を使って
変換中の文節をそのまま調べられて便利です。
ATOKではバンドル版でないとこんな芸当は出来ないのでEGBRIDGEを選んでしまいました。

それから、パワーアップキット forTigerをあてるとスマート履歴変換が追加され、
さらに15.0.3へのアップデータをあてるとATOKの推測変換では出来ない
推測結果の削除ができるのも良いです。

ローマ字ルールのカスタマイズもかなり柔軟に出来て、
あらかじめAZIKルールも付属しているので
ローマ字入力でスピードアップ出来ない悩みも解消です。
