勝田一樹(sax)、増崎孝司(g)、小野塚晃(key)の三人からなるディメンションのアルバム、通算17作目。「鬼警部アイアンサイド」(クインシー・ジョーンズ)をはじめとした初カヴァー・アルバムだが、新曲も。カヴァーのセンス、アレンジが聴きもの。


内容 (「CDジャーナル・レビュー」より)

日本を代表するフュージョン・バンドであるDIMENSION。デビュー10周年作品『Melody~Walts for Forest』(2003年)が各方面から高い評価を得たことを記憶している人も多いだろう。17枚目となる新作は、4つのオリジナル曲に加えて、彼らがリスペクトするアーティストのマテリアルをカヴァーする趣向。勝田一樹(sax)、増崎孝司(g)、小野塚晃(p)の3人はソロ活動も盛んだが、それも各々の多彩な音楽的バックグラウンドがあるからこそで、今回、エリック・クラプトン、キャロル・キング、ジミ・ヘンドリックス、チック・コリア、ハービー・ハンコック、クリストファー・クロス、クインシー・ジョーンズを取り上げていることからも明白だ。さらに、レコーディングに参加したZARDのヒット曲(5)もセレクト。いずれも彼らのポップ感を見出せるもので、結果的にDIMENSIONの個性的な立ち位置を証明する内容にもなった。技巧とセンスをリラックスしながら堪能できる。 (土屋京輔) --- 2004年12月号

オリジナルを知っていると、「へぇ─、彼らの手にかかると、こうなるのかぁ」という楽しみ方が出来ます。それほど結構変っています。(ZARDの曲も、曲目リストに注目しないで聞いていた時は、聞き流してました）

カバーも良いですが、今度は全曲オリジナルで、バリバリに盛り上がる曲(スポーツ番組のBGMにピッタリなヤツ)を並べて欲しいなぁ、という期待を込めて、★４つです。

近年の作品はバラード系、クラブ系と新たな方向性を模索する作品が続いていたが、その積み重ねと過去の決め決めフュージョンがうまくミックスされたサウンドが、カバーという形でうまく表現された快心の作品。他のアーティストのカバーということが、逆に肩の力が抜けたサウンドに繋がっているような気がします。３人のプレイヤー（増崎、小野塚、勝田）が、それぞれ出すぎず、かといっていくときはいく！て感じで絶妙のコンビネーションを醸し出しています。とにかくカッコイイです！
