ピアノの音とともに小部屋で遊ぶように、歌詞のコンセプトとともに草原を駆け回るように紡ぎだされる、柴草玲の4枚目となるニュー・アルバム。日常の一瞬をストップ・ウォッチで止め、自分の内側と外側の両サイドから、その光景を少ない色数で描写しているかのような、統一感のある作品群。水彩画をターンテーブルに載せてプレイしてみれば、こんな感じになるのだろうと、ふと思った。個人的には、アルバムを通して繰り広げられる旋律に絡むピアノ・アレンジより、そのバックで通奏低音のごとくやさしく響くストリングス・アレンジに注目したい。歌にウワモノを絡めるという感覚ではなく、あくまでも声とピアノを押し上げる役目に徹底しており、曲の温度を上品に仕上げている。丁寧にキャリアを積み上げてきた彼女の、現在における外界との付き合い方を垣間見させる今回のようなやさしい作品こそ、この冬のプレゼントとして、自分の大切な人に聴いてもらいたいと思ったりした。 (冬葉蜜柑) --- 2005年01月号
