   1985年、飢餓に苦しむアフリカを救おうと、アメリカのスーパースター45人が集結して制作された「ウィー・アー・ザ・ワールド」の映像作品。ライオン・シェア・スタジオでの先行レコーディングから始まり、A&Mスタジオでのメインのレコーディング風景、その後の編集作業、再度歌入れのシーンに至るまでを、ドキュメンタリー・タッチで追っている。
   やはり圧巻はA&Mスタジオでの映像。クィンシー・ジョーンズの指揮のもとで全員がそろってのコーラス部分、各パートごとのソロやデュオの歌入れ、アーティストの練習風景など、この曲が完成していくさまが臨場感たっぷりに伝わってくる。特に、ボツになったというマイケル・ジャクソン考案のコーラスや、スティーヴィー・ワンダーのピアノでボブ・ディランが歌のリハーサルをしている風景など、裏話的なエピソード映像が見もの。もちろん完成ヴァージョンのPVも収録。（小山 守）

アフリカ飢餓救済のために行われた大イベントのメイキングDVD。
たくさんの有名アーティストが集った、というだけでない『大魔法』を
視聴する方は感じることでしょう。
視覚障害がある、レイ・チャールズとスティービーワンダーの喜悦ぶりがとても印象的です。

ただ残念なのは、日本語の字幕。たとえば最初のボブ・ゲルドフの挨拶で、
「27500人の前に小麦を15袋どさっと置いて、それで援助だというんです。誰を責める訳にはいきませんが・・・」
とビデオ版にあったのが
「小麦粉15袋を２７５００人で分けます。暗くさせるつもりはありませんが・・・」
などとDVD版では妙な形に変わっていて、
『なんだよ！これ！』とやりきれなくなったり。

字幕OFF機能があるし、映像も音声も当時のものですから、出来ることなら『字幕OFF』で楽しむべきかもと考えます。
ミュージッククリップ部分を5.1ｃｈで楽しめるように別にトラックが用意されています、当時を知る人もそうでない人も、これは買いかと。

子供の頃、英語の授業で先生がビデオを観せてくれたのが
この曲との出会いでした。
あの時の感動は今でも忘れません。
アーティスト達が心を一つにして一曲を真剣に歌っています。
楽しんで参加しているのがよくわかります。

当時はマイケルくらいしか知らなかったのに、
他にもいいなと思えるアーティストを何人も発見できて
その後の音楽の趣味が広がりました。

曲の後半の盛り上がりは本当に感動します。
何度も観てるクセについつい涙ぐんでしまいます。

８０年代だし、古い！と言われようが
２０年近く経った今でもこの曲は私の中で洋楽ナンバーワンです。

この映像はこれまでＶＴＲ，ＬａｓｅｒＤ、などで何度もみてきました。
今回このＤＶＤにも期待したのですが、音声はともかく如何せん画質が
悪過ぎます。何回もダビングしたＶＴＲをみているようで、これがＤＶＤ？
思ってしまう。唖然としました。残念ながらこの版はあまりお勧めしません。
