   胸をえぐるような言葉や具体的なエロにとってかわり、前作『SMILE』あたりから、さまざまな世代の主人公のやんごとなき閉塞感や、不安、こびりついてしまった情景などを描くようになったスガシカオ。その物語性をリアルにしたのは、このアルバムで見られるサウンド自体のキャラクタライズへの、いい意味での固執だ。

   相手を人として受け入れられなくなり、別れの予感を女性言葉で歌う冒頭の「サナギ」では、粘着質なようでいて乾いたサウンドが響き、限られた時間の中で誰も知らない秘密を共有しはじめた2人の覚悟をうかがわせる「アーケード」では、初めてといっていいUKロック的な静謐なサウンドが響く。全体としてはスガらしいオルタナティヴ・ファンクが根底にあるのだが、今回はジャンルにこだわらず曲ごとの世界に浸りたい。（石角友香）

久しぶりにツボにはまりました。
サナギを聞いて、息がつまりそうになりました。
泣きたいのに泣けない、ただ息が詰まってしまう、
そんな気がします。すべての曲にあてはまると
思うのですが、その曲の”主人公”に自分がだぶり、かつ、
第３者として映像を見ているような気になります。

いつも通勤途中で聞くのですが、職場でサナギが
頭の中をぐるぐる回って仕事が手につきません。

いいアルバムです。胸の奥のほうを無理やり握られるような、でも決して不快ではない感覚･･･これがくせになってしまうと、もう軽いJ-POPは聞けなくなってしまう。愛とか恋とか友情をものすごく肯定的にそして率直に歌う歌が溢れている中で(それはそれで悪くは無いけれど)、内容からして、決して主流にはならないアーティストだと思う。だからきっと偏愛してしまうんだろうなあ･･･。

SMILE、Sweetを思い出させる配曲、インパクトの強い曲で始まり、シングルを含む佳作で引き付け広げ、アコギのバラードで閉める、いつもの黄金の起承転結配曲。
歌詞については個人的趣向表現がいつもより強いのが残念。人によってはすんなり入ってこないかな。
あと、音の面で惜しまれるのはスガ本人が自分自身で鍵盤、管以外を演奏しているせいで演奏が可もなく不可もなく。もっと外注、事務所つながり以外に、して欲しい。一般のリスナーが聴くレベルとしては充分だけど。
でも、トータルは星4つ。名曲揃いだし、なかなか良い。お勧め出来ます。
