イマジンを聞いたとき，「すごい！」と思いました。
原曲が楽観的な雰囲気で理想を歌っているのに対して，
ＡＰＣのイマジンは「今この時代のイマジン」であると思います。
陰鬱な雰囲気を漂わせ，絶望的なイマジン。
ただ，世界の現状からしたら，いつどこで戦争が起こってもおかしくないような状況で，
このようなイマジンが歌われることは至極正しいことだし，
それをやってのけたＡＰＣの勇気に拍手を送りたいと思います。
陰鬱なイマジンだけれども，そこに希望を忘れていない。（You may say I'm a dreamerのあたり）
そのほかにもディペッシュ・モードのPeople Are People（原曲とは思いっきり違うが）やエルビス・コステロのPeace, Love and Understanding
などの歌詞を見ると，ＡＰＣが今伝えなければならないと思っていることが，わかると思います。
ＣＤのスリーブデザインにもそれがあらわれています。
「平静を保て」「仕事に打ち込め」「あなた達は安全だ」など，下手に安心させるようなメッセージ，しかし確かに裏があるメッセージ。
戦争は静かにやってくる。
だから，しっかり目を開け，耳をすませ，注意するのだ。
そのようなことを，ＡＰＣはこのアルバムで訴えているのだと思います。
そのようなこと抜きにしても，素晴らしいアルバムだと思います。
できたら，ＣＤは日本版を（ほとんどの歌の歌詞が対訳付きで載っています。ただし，ＣＣＣＤですが），そしてＤＶＤの「a Motion」も一緒に見ることをおすすめします。
被爆地長崎に住む者として，このアルバムとともに永遠の平和を祈って。

コンスタンティンで流れてたので、それでこのアルバムを知った人も多いでしょう。
しかし、APCの中ではpassiveはかなりポップな部類に入ります。このアルバムの大半はもっと難解です。
もしpassiveを気に入ったのであれば、1stの『the hollow』2ndの『pet』などもおすすめします。

元スマパンのジェイムス・イハが参加したことで
より注目を集めることとなった
パーフェクトサークルの３rdアルバム。

オリジナル2曲以外はカバー曲という全12曲。

ジョン・レノン「イマジン」の
ダークで美しいカバーを始め
エルビス・コステロ、マーヴィン・ゲイ、デペッシュ・モード、
ディーヴォ、ジョニ・ミッチェル等の作品は
ほとんど戦争と平和をテーマとしたもの。

フロントマン、メイナード・ジェームズ・キーナンは
現在の世界情勢に対する激しい憤りを
他のアーティストの作品に託したのだろうか。

激しい曲もあるが
全体から感じる印象はとても穏やか。

ダークかつ抑えた表現を用いることで
かえって、そのメッセージ性は凄みを増す。
カバー曲中心でありながら
パーフェクトサークルの曲として完全に昇華し、
圧倒的に美しく、素晴らしい作品に仕上げている。

ロックの持つエネルギー、メッセージ性を突き詰めた傑作。

すごいバンドだ。
