Ｗｉｎ　Ｍｅからのアップグレードです。Ｍｅでの不安定さのストレスに耐え切れなくて、会社でも利用しているＸＰに切り替えました。価格は高いですが、切り替えの価値は十分ありました。本当に動作が安定しています。低スペックなＰＣ（ＰIII　９９３ＭＨｚ、ＭＥＭ３８４ＭＢ）なので、動作が鈍いかなと思いましたが、むしろＭｅより快適になりました
ただ、アップグレードで残念だったのは、インストールがうまくいかず（なんらかのソフトウェアが干渉していたようです）、最終的にＰＣを初期状態にまで戻すことになってしまったことです。（このため、データをバックアップを取らなくてはならなかったことです

と、新聞発表が先日ありましたが、MEや98をお使いであれば、スペックが合えばそろそろアップグレードを検討しても損はないかと思います。
まず、上記の製品概要・仕様はちょっと言葉足らずなので、製品パッケージから一部抜粋しますと、

アップグレード対象製品：９８・９８ＳＥ・ＭＥ
必要システム：300MHz以上のCPU
128MB以上のRAM
2.1GB以上のHDDの空き容量
CD-ROMかDVD-ROMドライブ

となっています。
私が所有していますDELLのDimension L700cx の仕様は、

CPU:Celeron700MHz
ﾒﾓﾘ:SDRAM(DIMM)PC133 128MB×1=128MB
HDD:IDE 10GB
OS:98SE

でしたので、メモリを512MB(256MB×2)＆HDDをメーカ動作確認最大の80GBにして、XPにアップグレードしました（ちなみにOfficeは2000です）。

もう気持ち良い位よく動きますし、ウィンドウズアップデートも日々更新されているし、ウィルスソフトもさくさく軽いし、本当に買って良かったと思っていますので、皆様にもお勧めします（ちなみにウィルスソフトは@NIFTYのセキュリティ24ですが）。
初心者諸兄の参考になれば幸いです。

Ｍｅからアップグレードしました。
インストールが上手くできるか不安でしたがトラブルもなくできました。ソフトが勝手にインストールした状態です。
Ｍｅのときは、いつも、リソース残量を気にしながら（イライラしながら）使い勝手の悪さを我慢しながらの使用でしたが、Ｘｐにアップグレードした後は、安定していて快適です。
