この「STANDARDS」シリーズは、ジャズをバックにしたポップシンガーのアルバムなんだと思います。
よくあるカバー曲集みたいに、オシャレな感じを狙ってやろうという感もなく、すっと耳に入るアレンジです。土岐さんご自身も、かなりあっさりと歌唱されています。
残念なのは、日本人なので発音に若干の違和感を感じること。こればかりはしょうがないのですが。
そんなわけで、時間を取って聴き込むにはあっさりしすぎて物足りないのですが、日常生活の中で流すのには最高に適したアルバムです。
朝食や昼寝の際のBGMとして、シリーズ全てそろえるのも良いかもしれません。
ここまでで星４つ。

個人的には、マイケルの「Human Nature」は、聴き込むに値する名カバーだと思っています。
さらに、この「on the sofa」には、他の「STANDARDS」シリーズには無い特徴があります。
それは、最後の「PLAY OUR LOVE'S THEME」のアレンジを、元Cymbalsの沖井さんが担当していることです。
よってこの曲だけバックが、ジャズというよりはジャズ気味ポップス、さらに言うならば疑似Cymbalsになるのですが、決して他の曲に劣るものではありません。
むしろ軽い曲の中に、わざとオシャレな雰囲気を醸し出しているこの曲が入ることで、なにか得した気にすらなります。
そんな意味も込めて星５つです。

~　日本人が演じるジャズはあまり聴く機会がありません。理由は、私にとって個性や味わい、グルーブ感が希薄だからです。
　とくにヴォーカル物は、いままでちょっとキレイなお姉さんが口先だけで歌うケースが多く、発音やフレージングが滅茶苦茶、正直、鑑賞に耐えられませんでした。
　土岐麻子は経歴もジャズの1stアルバムを出していたことも知りませんで~~したが、ブロッサム・ディアリに近い軽いスイング感とほんのりとしたニュアンスがあり、ヴィブラートを乗せ過ぎない素直な歌唱に好感が持てて、とても楽しく聴くことができました。
　ちなみに、ジャケットが内容にとても合っています。くしゅっとしたタートルネック、細いボーダー柄が、いかにもリラックスした雰囲気。短い髪型もライトで似合ってます。Akiko~~がダークなのに対して、ふんわりヌケた感覚がカフェらしい素軽さ。STANDARDS on the SOFAというタイトルもいいです。
　伝統的なジャズ・ヴォーカルと同じ次元で語ることはできませんが、別に違うカテゴリーでもいいと思いますので、星5つ。~

ロック・グループCymbalsの元ヴォーカル・土岐麻子が、ジャズ・ヴォーカリストとして歌ったアルバムです。良い雰囲気を持っています。

お父さんは、このＣＤでも素晴らしいサックスを披露しているプロデューサーの土岐英史氏です。ロックを歌ってきたこともあり、ビートの感じ方はいいですし、父の奏でる音楽を聴いてきたことで自然とジャズの歌唱方もマスターしたのでしょう。

アルバム・タイトル通り、くつろいで聴けるスタンダード・ナンバーが収録されています。
「Just One Of Those Things」の、ハギレの良さが心地よかったですし、少し鼻にかかった声はコケティッシュな魅力を持っていました。

「When You Wish Upon A Star」のようなスロー・バラードも、ジャズ・ワルツによく乗れていて、良い演奏です。このような有名な曲って、結構大変でしょうね。古今東西の名ジャズ・シンガーと比較されることもあるでしょうから。

大石学（ｐ）、ハル高内（ｇ）、坂井紅介(b)、セシル.モンロー(ds)、土岐英史（a.sax）とバックのメンバーの奏でる音がとても素晴らしく、土岐麻子にとって、ありがたいサポートとなっています。ヴォーカルを支えながら聴かせる音楽作りとなっていました。
