天才の世界。
技術は十分なものとして、これからの熟成や変化を聴きくらべる為の指標。
聴きほれるのみ。
ソロなので、その凄さが。
１９８８年１２月の録音。楽器はグワルネリを使っての演奏のようです。
パガニーニが超絶技巧と評されるのもわかります。

　テクニックの切れ味は最高かも知れないが、曲の良さ・おもしろさを引き出せないため、説得力が乏しく、ただただ、超絶技巧練習曲を聴かされるようで、退屈してしまう（パールマン盤と比較せよ！）。
　録音は良く、ヴァイオリンの音もキレはいいが、鋭く、刺激的。ナマの音に近いのかも知れないが、長時間聴けないし、繰り返し聴く気にもなれない。
　要するに、パガニーニを味わうためのCDではなく、この天才少女ヴァイオリニストのうまさを聴くためだけのCDになってしまっている。
　
　”およそ天才少女と呼ばれ、神童と称えられるほどの人・・にとっては、最初の厳しくも激しい訓練の過程の中で、さまざまの種類の音楽を、克服すべき技術の課題として与えられるのが普通である。つまり、音楽より先に技術があった。そういう人が、成人に達した時、改めて自分を見直し、自分の音楽を発見すると言う問題に直面する。五嶋みどりは、今そこにいるのではなかろうか。”(1996年6月12日、吉田秀和氏）

　この録音から14年後のブルッフ・メンデルスゾーンの協奏曲の圧倒的名盤と比べると、1988年のこの録音は、まだ青いリンゴと言う感じ。この曲の”21世紀の名曲名盤(音楽之友社）”の第1位に選ばれているのが不思議でならない（ただし、トップに挙げた評論家は一人もいない）。

パガニーニのカプリースは、ただのサーカス芸だ。それ以下でこそあれ、それ以上であることはない。
17歳の少女がこの曲を録音したからといって、それが一体なんだというのだろう。
別に面白いことをしているわけではなく、ただ漫然と弾いているだけなのだ。
