私は、スターウォーズが大好きなのでこのCDを購入しました。
実際このCDを聞いていると、数々の場面が頭の中で蘇ってきます。
また、このCD でよかった曲は・・・
9：酒場のバンド
13：王座の間とフィナーレ
です。特に、13番の王座の間とフィナーレは、
スターウォーズファンでは無くても、一つの立派な曲として
成り立っていると思います。
私は、ぜひこのCDをお勧めします。

　全６作からなるスターウォーズのうち、後半３部作から選曲されたベスト版。最初の作品からの選出が多いようだが、全体としてはバランスよく構成されている。指揮はジョン・ウィリアムズ自身が担当、演奏は収録のために特別に編成されたオーケストラだという。
　また、基本的にはサントラのベスト版なのだが、よく聴いてみると微妙にオリジナル版とは異なっている部分がある。たとえば、全体的にテンポは遅めで、特にメインテーマでは最後の部分に小節が付け加えられている。おそらく映画版でカットされた部分を復活させたり、あるいは作曲者自身がこの新録音のために書き直したり、こだわりを持った部分なのだろう。
　スターウォーズは第１作が公開されてからかなり時間がたち、だんだん古典になりつつある。だが映画も音楽もまったく古さを感じさせない。スターウォーズの音楽はあまりに有名なので、全集が発売されたりジョン･ウィリアムズの作品集にしばしば抜粋されたりする。しかしこうしたベスト版は少なく、このＣＤは、スターウォーズの音楽を手軽に、しかも存分に楽しむにはもってこいだろう。

いよいよ「エピソードIII」のサントラも発売と公開が迫ってきた「スター・ウォーズ」。本作は「エピソード４~６」までの代表的な曲をジュン・ウィリアムズが９０年に自ら指揮をした作品。内容についてはこれまで何度か再販されてるのでそちらをご覧下さい。
そして今回特筆すべきは「王座の間」である。７７年にアレンジされた「王座の間」がこちらのＣＤにも収録されているのだが、
その「バージョン」が新作「エピソードIII」のサントラにそのまま流用されているのである。ウィリアムズが当時から「III」を
先見して作曲したのであれば驚異である。しかし、「III」に手抜きでそのまま使ったのであれば、「なんだかな・・（笑）」。
これから数多くのカバーアルバムが出るであろうが、迷ったらこのＣＤをお勧めする。ブックレットにはルーカスからのコメントも
収録されている「本命盤」である。音質・内容とも再演奏ものとしてはベストなのであるが、強いて言えば、「ジャケット」の
場面写真の寄集めはなんとかならなかったのだろうか・・。今回の発売盤はソニークラシカルより発売のクラシック３部作の個々のサントラ同様、ＤＳＤマスタリング、ルビジウム・クロック・カッティング仕様、初回盤に限っては銀蒸着仕様となっている。なお、海外盤も出ているのだが、そちらはＤＳＤなどのリマスタリングは今現在行われていない。日本盤が一番音質が優れている。入門編としても最適な１枚！。
