かっこいいクリスマスアルバムがないかなと考えているなら、
迷わずコレをお勧めします。
ボイパの原点ともいえるマンハッタントランスファーのハモリが
商業主義っぽくない、トラディショナルなクリスマスソングで
聞ける、なんともお得な１枚。

合唱愛好者です。マントラも20年以上前から聴いてきました。 どの曲もマン・トラの魅力で溢れています。クリスマス・アルバムですが、１年中聞いていたい仕上がりですので、ファンにはたまらないものになっています。

5曲目の有名な「聖しこの夜」も少年合唱を伴い、とても敬虔なアレンジでした。クリスマス・ソングの定番ですが、聴きなれた曲もこのようにお洒落に歌われたら、聞き惚れてしまいますね。

9曲目の「イット・ケイム・アポン・ザ・ミッドナイト・クリア(あめなる神には)」は有名な讃美歌をアレンジしたものです。聴きなれた讃美歌よりもずっと凝ったアレンジで、とてもオシャレでステキです。単なるクリスマス・ソングのアレンジとは一味違った仕上りになっています。

10曲目の「ハヴ・ユアセルフ・ア・メリー・リトル・クリスマス」や「グッド・ナイト」温かい雰囲気はクリスマスならではですが、マントラのハーモニーが夢の世界へと誘ってくれるようなジャジーな編曲でした。

マントラの実力の素晴らしさを再確認したアルバムです。クリスマスの期間だけの企画ものとしてだけでなく、ずっと愛聴したいＣＤですね。

マンハッタン・トランスファーには、これともう一枚"アカペラ・クリスマス"があり、どちらも実に実に素晴らしいです。こちらの作品は特に好きで毎年、クリスマスになるとこれをかけてワイン飲みならがゆっくりすします。ジョニー・マンデルのアレンジが全体的にゴージャスかつオシャレでとても良い。"The Christmas Song"では、あのトニー・ベネットがリードをとってて、これがかっこい~！　最高です。また、"聖しこの夜"は、イントロのミステリアスなコーラスでもう気分はホワイト・クリスマス！　最後が子供の歌声で"Goodnight"というのも泣けるんだよね。え~と、これ書いてるのは夏ですけど。。いいものはいいということで。
