クリスマス・アルバムとは。ヒギンズも大物になったものだ。まずその点にびっくり。そしてそのアプローチに感心。「レット・イット・スノウ」「サンタが街にやってくる」といった曲はアップ・テンポによるジャジィな演奏。かと思うと「ベツレヘムの小さな町」や「メリー・リトル・クリスマス」は敬虔なムードを演出。という具合に、一本調子にならないよう配慮している。クリスマス作品を作るのはアーティストにとって一種の名誉であり、その喜びが伝わってくる演奏だ。J.レオンハートの弓弾きをたっぷり聴けるのも楽しい。 (市川正二) --- 2004年12月号
