My mother loves very much a violin music. I like it too, but somehow, I have inherited a strong passion to another string instrument - cello.... Its sound reminds me a human voice. When I hear cello, I feel something inside my chest. I cannot explain this, but I feel very deeply the cello voice. It's a very emotional experience for me. That's why I love it very much!

Now, I discovered, that Yo-Yo Ma plays Morricone. I am sure you know the music of the famous Italian composer Ennio Morricone. Now, imagine all his famous titles are re-arranged for cello and orchestra. CD includes the most relaxing themes from such movies as The Mission, Cinema Paradiso, Once Upon a Time in America, The Untouchables and many others.

If you like orchestral movie themes played by the cellist Hajime Mizoguchi, then you would definitely love this new CD of Yo-Yo Ma and Ennio Morricone.

~聴き始めたら・・息が詰まりそうになった。
聴く者の心をえぐり・・なぐさめ・・いたわる。
なんというやさしさ、愛があふれ、慈悲に満ちて、深い精神性を感じる。
ヨーヨーマがシルクロードアンサンブルで、仲間と共に情熱を込めて音楽を創造していたが、その熱いハートがここにも凝縮している。
正直、ヨーヨーマがここまで素晴らしい芸術家だと思って~~いなかった自分を恥ずかしく思う。
エンニオ・モリコーネという映画音楽の巨匠の世界にマが魅せられたと言う。
マは、モリコーネの組曲に理解を超えた奥深さを感じ、圧倒されたと言う。
旋律が頭から離れず、魂に響いてきたと言う。
曲を聴くと、人生や故郷の風景が浮かんでくる。

モリコーネは言う。
彼は楽団員ととてもうち解けて、フレンドリーで~~大きな友情の輪が生まれたと。
彼の演奏を聴いて言う。『音楽への深い理解が無ければこんな音は出せない』　
『ただ、練習すれば誰でも出せる音色ではない。魂の響きだ！』
　
ロマンチックな作曲家と偉大な魂のソリスト、ヨーヨーマがこんなにも溶け合うなんて！
ソリストとしてではなくて、オーケストラの中に溶け込んで、ひとつの熱い熱いハートの塊~~になって、人々の胸に迫る。
これを聴いて涙しない人はきっといないだろう・・
疲れていた身体も心も洗われるようだ。~

ヨーヨー マに対して、あまり良い印象を持っていなかった私は、ＣＤショップの試聴機でこれを聴いて、その場に立ちすくんだ。 すぐさま、涙が溢れ出そうになった。 その音楽の素晴らしさ、楽器の音色の素晴らしさ、（つまりそれは、演奏者の音楽に対する精神的な深さを意味する）なんと言う音楽だろう。 私が、求めるあらゆるやさしさや慈悲や、希望、のようなものが、この音楽の中にある。 ここで演奏されている曲の映画を、幸いわたしはひとつも見ていないのだけれど、ぜひ、見てみたいと思う。
日本選抜オーケストラが、富田勲の目前で演奏した時にも、同じ事を思ったのだが、、普段、作曲者不在で演奏している人々が、作曲者を目の前にして演奏する気持ちと言うのは、どうなんだろう。作曲者がそこにいる時の演奏と言うのは、きっと、特別な思いがあるに違いない。

数年前までは、息遣いなど、録音されないように配慮されていたと思うのだが、（keith Jarrettの作品などは例外）ところどころで聴こえる息遣いが、この音楽を、素晴らしくリアルにしている。

どんなことより、生で聴きたかった演奏だ。
