   北海道の山奥の洞窟から古代恐竜の卵が発見され、その孵化実験が成功。古生物学者（渡瀬恒彦）の娘・千恵(安達祐実)はその恐竜をレックスと名づけ、まるで母親になったかのように育てていく。しかし、レックスで一儲けしようとする悪い輩が現われて…。
   畑正憲の同名小説を原作に、時の角川映画総帥・角川春樹が監督したファミリーSF映画の大ヒット作。『E.T.』のカルロ・ランバルディが造形した愛くるしい恐竜レックスと少女との心の交流を軸に、まるでオモチャ箱をひっくりかえしたかのような騒動の数々が賑やかに繰り広げられていくが、その中で両親の離婚問題など現代ならではの問題もさりげなく盛り込まれている。また、幼いヒロインに対する周囲の大人たちの慈愛あふれる眼差しは、少女を主人公にしたときの角川監督作品の大きな特徴でもあり、これには監督の実妹が10代で死去していることと無縁ではないという。浅川朋之の音楽、石井竜也の主題歌も映像に優しさを増加させる良き要因となっている。公開時期を同じくした『ジュラシック・パーク』と比較・批判する意見も多かったが、そもそもは比べるべき題材でもないだろう。（的田也寸志）

子供向きだからってここまでチープにする必要はないと思いました。子供向きの映画だからこともっと丹精こめてちゃんとしたものを作ってほしいと思いました。公開当時、荒井晴彦さんや山根貞男さんが褒めているのに驚いたものです。当時はみんな角川さんのおかげで生活していたし脚本担当の丸山昇一さんへの仲間褒めもあったのでしょう。非常に醜いなあと思ったものです。

科学者が見つけた卵から産まれた恐竜を科学者の娘が育てるって話です。正気の沙汰とは思えない話ですが、安達祐実は天才子役と言われてましたし、恐竜ブームだったので当時結構ヒットしたと思います。しかし恐竜を狙う悪役が出るってありがちな展開となによりもランバルディによるデキの悪い恐竜。子供との交流の話なのでE.Tを作ったランバルディに頼んだんでしょうがなんかしょぼい。いくらぼったくられたかは知らないですが、恐竜は違う人に頼むべきだったと思います。いくら子供向けファンタジーとはいってももうちょっと話のヒネリも欲しかったかなと思います。渡瀬恒彦って人も角川春樹と付き合いが長いんでたまにこんな変な作品に出ちゃいますね。

この映画は私が6歳の時、始めて映画館で見た作品です。
恐竜好きの私にとって、｢あったら良いな｣と思える作品でした。
当時12歳の安達祐実さんもカワイイです。
是非これは家族で見て欲しいと思います。
