   1920年代、カンサスの片田舎からニューヨークへ出てきたミリー（ジュリー・アンドリュース）は、瞬く間にモダン・ガールへ変身。やがて彼女は二枚目若社長トレヴァー（ジェームズ・フォックス）に熱を上げるが、彼は女優のドロシー（メアリー・タイラー・ムーア）に夢中ときた。ある日、ドロシーがチャイナタウンに連れ去られてしまい、ミリーはトレヴァーに頼まれて彼女の救出に向かうが…。
   チャールストン華やかなりし頃の1920年代NYを舞台に繰り広げられるミュージカル映画の隠れた名作。監督は『明日に向って撃て！』『スティング』などの名匠ジョージ・ロイ・ヒル。本作は『ハワイ』に続く監督＆主演女優コンビの作品ともなった。ジミー・ヴァン・ヒューゼン＆サミー・カーンの作詞・作曲家コンビによる4曲と、当時の名曲群が劇中を彩ってくれている。また、オリジナル・スコアを担当したエルマー・バーンスタインは本作でアカデミー賞作曲賞を受賞。キャストでは、いつもながらに歌い踊るジュリーの魅力は変わらずだが、それ以上に金持ち未亡人役のキャロル・チャニング（ゴールデングローブ賞助演女優賞受賞）が儲け役で必見。（的田也寸志）

この映画は大好きなので、米版はもちろん購入済みですが、日本版を心待ちにしていました。ですが！この日本版は本来の速度より何故か早いのです。ですからセリフはおろか歌まで声が高く不自然なのです。テープレコーダーを早回しにしたらどうなるか、皆さんご存じですよね。知人がメーカーに問い合わせたら、調査してみますの一言でその後音沙汰ナシだそうです。こんな商品を出しておきながら謝罪ひとつ無いメーカーの対応を疑います。

やっぱり、ジュリーアンドリュースかわいいなぁ。
ＵＳＪの雰囲気ある映画でした。
メリーポピンズとはまた違ったジュリーアンドリュースの魅力があります。

「ベストキッド」でお馴染みのミヤギさん、パット・モリタ氏がちょい悪役で出てるのも驚きです。面白い。

１９２０年代を舞台にしていますが、いかにも１９６０年代後半っぽいファッションがイキでモダンなミュージカルの隠れた傑作です。ジュリー・アンドリュース始め主要登場人物が着こなすファッションは、おいおいこんなの２０年代にないだろう、という臆面の無さです。ストーリーの方もいわゆるお馬鹿ムービーのノリで、ほとんど無いに等しいですが、古典ポピュラーを中心にした歌曲が良く、ひたすら楽しいミュージカルです。「マリアンの友だち」に続き、ジョージ・ロイ・ヒル監督によるモダンな映像センスが光ります。米国盤と同一仕様ならスクイーズのビスタサイズで、画質はやや粒状性の粗さが目立ちます。音響はドルビーサラウンド（３チャンネル）。玄人受けする埋もれた旧作ですので、すぐ廃盤になりそうですから、早めに買っておくのが得策だと思われます。
