1996 reissue on Castle featuring their top 100 1986 album remastered from the original master tapes & with faithfully restored artwork. Originally released on Warner Brothers, 'Seventh Star' features original member Tony Lommi with ex-Deep Purple vocalist Glenn Hughes, one time KISS member Eric Singer, plus Geoff Nichols and Dave Spitz. Nine tracks, including 'In For The Kill', 'No Stranger To Love' and 'In Memory...'.

イアンギランがディープパープル再結成の為脱退、ベヴベヴァンもELO復帰の為脱退、ついにはギーザーバトラーも脱退、この時点でブラックサバスは死を迎えるはずでした。ひとりぼっちになってしまったトニーアイオミは自身初のソロアルバムを制作するためメンバー集めをしました。エリックシンガー(DR)ジェフニコルス(KEY)デイヴスピッツ(B)、ヴォーカルには無名の新人ジェフフェンホルトでセッションを行いましたが、ご存じの通りグレンヒューズのヴォーカルでアルバムは完成しました。どのような理由で交替したのかはわかりませんが、このメンバーチェンジは正解だったように思います。しかしながら、ブラックサバス名義でなければアルバムは発売できないとレコード会社から通告されてしまい、ブラックサバス、フューチャリング トニーアイオミというかたちでリリースにこぎつけました。このような理由から本作はそれまでのサバスのサウンドとは一味違った作風にしあがっています。とはいうもののマーティン時代に通ずる現代的ヘヴィーネスを有する逸品です。グレンが後にソロコンサートでも取り上げる#2は特に絶品

　ヴォーカルにグレン・ヒューズ（元ディープ・パープル）を迎えての作品。
　パープルでは、カヴァーデイルとツイン・ヴォーカルのスタイルをとっていたものの、グレンのヴォーカルがこれだけ大々的にフィーチャーされていたのは、当時ヒューズ/スロール名義の「仮面の都市」以来２枚目。
　そのグレンの歌いっぷりはというと、パープルやヒューズ/スロールでの激しさは影を潜め、一転して味わい深さの極致を披露しています。渋くしっとりした中低音域。美しいファルセット。今でこそ「神の声」などと賞賛されていますが、当時はこんなに歌が「上手い」人だとは知りませんでした。
　そもそもアイオミのソロ・アルバムとして製作されたせいか、サバスのオドロオドロしさはありません。しかし、極上のブリティッシュ・ハード・ロックが詰まった名盤です。
