本作は彼らの3rdと5thの2in1です。

Silver Pistol
それまでのもろｱﾒﾘｶ西海岸風ｻｳﾝﾄﾞから徐々に英国ﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞらしさが出てきたｱﾙﾊﾞﾑで有り、本作よりIan Gommが参加し5人編成となった。英国のThe Bandと呼ばれた彼らだが、本作はThe Bandの"Big Pink"の様にｼﾞｬｹｯﾄのﾒﾝﾊﾞｰの後ろに写っている邸宅にて録音された。#9には犬の鳴き声が入っていたり、所々で生活のNoiseが聞ける。

本作のｾｯｼｮﾝと前後してｱﾒﾘｶ人ｼﾝｶﾞｰ　Jim Fordとﾛﾝﾄﾞﾝ・ｵﾘﾝﾋﾟｯｸｽﾀｼﾞｵにてｾｯｼｮﾝを行っており、本作には#10/11とJimのﾅﾝﾊﾞｰを収録。蛇足ながらJim Fordには唯一"Harian Country"と言うｱﾙﾊﾞﾑが有り、ｻｻﾞﾝﾌｧﾝｸ・ｶﾝﾄﾘｰ・R&Bがない交ぜになった素晴らしい音を聞かせてくれるらしい。（残念ながら未聴）代表作には、Bobby Womackがｶﾊﾞｰした"Harry Hippie"　Ron Woodがｶﾊﾞｰした"Sweet Baby Mine"（こちらはJim とBobby Womackの共作）が有る。NickさんもJesus Of CoolでJimの36inchをｶﾊﾞｰする事となる。

Ian Gommの参加にてNickさんのｿﾝｸﾞﾗｲﾃｨﾝｸﾞにも磨きが掛かり、美しいｶﾝﾄﾘｰﾜﾙﾂの佳曲#4を物にし#7ではﾊﾞﾃﾞｨ･ﾎﾘｰの"Words Of Love"のﾘﾌを挿入するなど　遊び心が出てきた。
Bandの結束も一段と固まりいぶし銀の如くﾘﾗｯｸｽした極上のﾊﾟﾌﾞﾛｯｸを聞かせる。

Please Don't Ever Change

ﾊﾟﾌﾞﾛｯｸ自体　特定の音楽形式を持たなかったが何れのﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞもｱﾒﾘｶ音楽のﾍﾞｰｼｯｸな部分と接触する志向性を持っていた。Nick Lowe,Ian Gommを有するBrinsley Schwartzはｶﾝﾄﾘｰﾛｯｸ的なﾌｨｰﾘﾝｸﾞを看板にR&B,ｵｰﾙﾄﾞﾎﾟｯﾌﾟｽ・ﾛｯｸﾝﾛｰﾙからﾚｹﾞｴに至るまで幅広い音楽を独自のｱﾚﾝｼﾞで聴かせる「英国のThe Band」と呼ばれた。

本作は彼らの5作目でDave Edmundsがﾌﾟﾛﾃﾞｭｰｽした次作"The New Favourits Of"と並んで彼らの代表作と呼ばれている。

#13　ｲｱﾝ・ｺﾞﾑの名作でｽﾀｰﾄ。ﾚｹﾞｴの軽快なﾋﾞｰﾄに軽やかに乗る#14 3連ﾛｯｶﾊﾞﾗｰﾄﾞの#15　ｸﾘｹｯﾂの演奏で英国でﾋｯﾄした　ｺﾞﾌｨﾝ/ｷﾝｸﾞ作の#16 前作収録のﾛｶﾋﾞﾘｰﾌﾞｷﾞﾅﾝﾊﾞｰをLive収録した#17　後にRockpileで再演される#18 Nickさん作ﾗﾃﾝﾅﾝﾊﾞｰの名曲#20　'73年に「ﾋｯﾀｰｽﾞ」の変名でﾘﾘｰｽされたﾚｹﾞｴﾅﾝﾊﾞｰのｶﾗｵｹ#22と個々の楽曲のｸｵﾘﾃｨは高く、雑多な音楽性さえ微笑ましい。

英国ﾋﾞｰﾄｸﾞﾙｰﾌﾟの伝統を受け継いだ粋なｱﾝｻﾝﾌﾞﾙを聴かせる「愛すべき野郎ども」による名盤です！

代表作の３ｒｄと５ｔｈアルバムですが、ＣＤの枚数が「２」なのに曲順を見てみると一枚に全曲が収まっている表示になっているためお薦めするのに困る小品。作品的には両アルバムとも★派５つですが、そういう理由で一つ減らしました。出来れば続けて聞くより分けて聞いた方が・・・
