内容 (「CDジャーナル・レビュー」より)

バート・バカラックによる名曲「クロース・トゥ・ユー(遙かなる影)」「サン・ホセへの道」「雨にぬれても」ほかを取り上げた、人気二胡奏者ウェイウェイ・ウー(巫謝彗)の新作。アメリカン・ポップスの代名詞であるバカラック・ナンバーと中国の伝統楽器の組み合わせ。これが意外にハマっている。曲によってはアレンジ過多と思える部分もあるが、甘いメロディを紡ぐ柔らかな二胡の音色が優しく、安らかなひと時をもたらしてくれる和み系の好作品といえる。「ルック・オブ・ラヴ」ほか、2曲を彼女本人が北京語で歌っている。 (飯塚達弘) --- 2004年12月号

このアルバムは確かに二胡がメインの音色ですが、中国の香りはあまりしません。タイトルの通りバカラックが作曲した曲だけなので、当然と言えば当然かもしれませんが・・・。聞き始めるとまずとても心地が良く、耳に邪魔にならないことに気がつきます。バカラックを知らなくてもどこかで聴いたことがある曲ばかり。読書をしながら、遅い朝食を食べながら・・・春や秋の暖かい太陽の下でぜひ聞いてください。心の底からゆっくりとさせてくれます。

このCDは、なじみの深いバカラックの曲を胡弓で演奏するという、新しい試み。女子12楽坊で広く知れ渡った中国楽器の幅の広さを知る事もできました。
WeiWeiWooの胡弓の音色はとてもやさしく、バカラックの澄んだ音楽に意外なほどぴったりと合ってました。音色がバイオリオン程ぱきぱきしていない胡弓は、絶え間なく音を発していて、体が包まれていく感じがします。心が疲れているときにお勧めのCDです。
中西俊博さんのアレンジも多数入っていますが、胡弓とは思えない音色やPopなメロディが中西さんらしく、思わずにやりとしてしまう部分もちらほら。
従ってこのCDはヒーリングとしても、マニアとしても老若男女関係無くお勧めできるCDです。

心地よいバカラックの音楽に、ウェイウェイ・ウーさんの二胡がさらに優しさを加えて、聞く人の心をあたたかくしてくれます。歌詞がない曲でも、無機質な冷たい感じが全くしないのは、二胡の音色が人の声に似ているからと、奏でる人のハートが暖かいからではないでしょうか。
