　ヘヴィー･メタル小僧がヘヴィ･メタル小僧のためにつくった、そんな絵に描いたようなヘヴィ・メタル・アルバムです。
　クリス・インペリテリのギター・プレイを「速いだけ」と揶揄する声が根強くあるようですが、それを理由に本作を聴かないのは勿体ない。（僕も早弾きマニアではありませんし、彼のプレイが鼻につくこともあります。）
　ロブ･ロック（Vo）と組んだ作品は、基本的にどれも同路線ではありますが、曲のクオリティーや様式美の体現度などを勘案すると、本作が最高傑作であると私は思います。
　「FLY AWAY」のリフや「HUNGRY DAYS」のメロディーの美しさ、「KING WILL RISING」の様式美は、クリスとロブのコンビならではのものです。
　アルバム通して４０分にも満たない点も、長所と捉えたいです。たるむ箇所無く一気に聴かせ、最後に「もっと聴きたい」との余韻を残します。

　クリスが嫌いでインペリテリを聴いたことがない方がいたら、声を大にして言いたい。「本作を聴いてみて」。

ロブ・ロックがいて、このサウンドがあって、そして全曲がちゃんと違う曲に聞こえる（笑）、「これが、これこそがIMPELLITTERIサウンドだ！」と何度聴いてもハマりますね♪
リッチー・ブラックモアともイングヴェイ・マルムスティーンとも違う”ネオクラシカル”なメタルの方向へ行った事が間違っていなかった事がこのサウンドが証明してくれます。
「ギターソロ全部一緒じゃん！」とか「速いだけ！」とかいろいろ言われていますが、そんな事は小さい小さい！（確かにギターソロでの速弾きへの持っていき方がかなり強引なとこもありますが）
『ANSWER TO THE MASTER』,『HUNGRY DAYS』,『THE KING IS RISING』のつながりだけでも強烈にカッコイイ！！
クリスは弾きまくってなんぼでしょ~♪
9曲で35分弱というのも聴きやすい長さですし、メタラーなら一度聴いてみてはいかが？？

「捨て曲がない」ことは名盤と言われるアルバムの条件の一つではないだろうか。その意味ではこのアルバムもかなりの出来栄えと言える。

特徴をひとことで言うならとにかくアグレッシヴなアルバム。
1THE FUTURE IS BLACKからスピード感のあるリフの連続…と思ったとろでメロディの美しさが冴えるパワーバラード4I'LL WAITをもってくるところもニクイ。

ベストアルバムにも収録されている3WARRIORも名曲である。
また、2FLY AWAYはギターワークはもちろんのこと、ヴォーカルアレンジにも注目だ。
