   ブライアン・シンガー監督の出世作となった傑作犯罪映画。登場人物に善人などは皆無で、ピカレスク要素を漂わせつつもどこか閉塞的な心理サスペンス・ミステリーが繰り広げられていく。一癖も二癖もある個性派を集結させてのキャスティングも素晴らしい。アカデミー賞助演男優賞（ケヴィン・スペイシー）およびオリジナル脚本賞を受賞。またシンガー監督は本作が認められて「X-MEN」シリーズの監督に抜擢されることにもなった。（的田也寸志）

その名を聞くと誰もが怯える謎のギャングのボス、カイザー・ソゼをめぐる話は、一見、複雑にからみあって謎解きのようだが、最後の落ちのための前フリに過ぎないことが分かる。だから、落ちがわかった後でも、何度でも見て、そこまで持って行く過程を楽しめる。「セブン」と並んでケビン・スペイシーがブレイクした作品。豪華絢爛な大作でない分、映画本来のおもしろさが何か、よく理解できる。お勧め。

非常によく出来た映画です。ラスト辺りの畳み掛けは見事で、面白いの一言です。何が真実なのか？どこまで本当の出来事だったのか？？２回観る事をお薦めします。ラストシーンがカッコイイ。初めて観たのは映画館でしたが、その後何回かDVDでも観ました。買って損はないです。

以前から好きでもう十数回見ただろうか。。
ミラーズ・クロッシングでもそうであったが、ガブリエル・バーンの演技が秀でている。
確かに思いもよらぬ結末となるが、この作品は単に大どんでんがえしの犯人あて推理作品ではない。映像のセンスがよく、また脚本が優れているためか、退屈さを感じさせない。

1点惜しまれるのが時間の観念である。
面通しから船の襲撃までどのくらいの期間があったのか。
ある目的のために真犯人が仕組んだ計画犯罪は、
その目的達成までにそれほどの時間的猶予があったのでろうか。。
