このシリーズについて

   発売から40年以上が経つトミーのロングセラー商品。原型は1959年発売の『プラスチック汽車　レールセット』で、手で転がして遊ぶものだった。以来、組み立てやすくする、故障をなくす、などの改良は行っているが、基本的なモデルチェンジは行っていない。1960年代に小型モーター内蔵の3両編成のタイプを発売、現在も車両は3両編成が基本になっている。3歳の子どもがひとりでも遊べるほか、レールレイアウトを追加して走らせたり、さらに親が一緒になって街をつくる大掛かりなレイアウトを作り上げたりなど、遊び方の自由度が高いのも魅力。

2歳の息子はまだ走らせることよりばらばらにしたり組み立てたりするほうが好きです。最初は車両だけ与えたのですが、レールのほうが自分でいじるのに楽しいようです。また、電池で走らせるのではなく自分でレールに沿って車両を動かします。最初は思うようにできないと叫んでいましたが、どんどん自分で考えて工夫できるようになってきました。大好きな電車で遊ぶことで手先もどんどん器用になっていくようです。

プラレールのレールセットです。踏切と信号、木が付いてきます。レールは、直線、曲線、ポイント２つが入っています。このセットと通常の基本セットなどを組み合わせると、かなりのレールバリエーションを作ることができます。子供と色々な組み合わせを作ることができ、創造的に遊べる楽しさがあると思います。踏切は、車両の重さで自動開閉しますが、遮断機がやや弱いかもしれません。踏切は、最初にシールを貼って、仕上げるようになっていて、作る楽しさも残されています。
