ソロデビュー10周年を迎える奥田民生が、『E』から2年ぶりのオリジナルフルアルバムをリリース。ニューヨークでレコーディングされた作品を中心にしつつ、シングル「サウンド・オブ・ミュージック」「スカイウォーカー」「何と言う」を収録した待望の力作。

   ソロ当初からのパートナー、チャーリー・ドレイトンらとのアンサンブルが確実に血肉化してることの証明ではあるのだが、もう1曲めの第1音から破格である。キース・リチャーズが歯がみしそうな音とでも言おうか。そしてもちろん、民生の「目的」とするところはそこではない。もはや俳句的な域に達した、必要最低限にして洒脱な歌詞。それは、言いたいことではなく、飽くまで音楽として「歌いたいこと」だ。その言葉と音が互いに求め合った結実である10周年アルバムとなった。

   そう、やはり民生はアルバムでこそ真価を発揮する。似たようなマイペースなシングルばかり連発して…なんて、ちょっと舐めにかかっているワカモノたちよ、急かずに聴いてみることをオススメする。30代後半。不惑にはちょっと遠く、しかし名状しがたい優しさと覚悟が、男も女も惚れさせる。（石角友香）

今回のアルバムもやっぱり最高でした。
僕が感じたのは、今までのアルバムと比べて演奏が凄く凝ってるというか、斬新さを感じました。
特に楽器を増やしたわけじゃなく、シンプルにギター、ベース、ドラム、キーボードでここまでやれるんだぜって感じがします。
曲調は民生らしい王道をいってますが、要所要所で新しいメロデｲも取り入れてる感じで、ただ単に単調なリズムになっていないとこが民生の凄さですね。
あと、曲が似ちゃうのはしょうがねえだろ？とでも言いたげな、あの曲順、、、プライマルからサウンド・オブのあたりはわざとかな？最高です。
僕的に好きな曲は、アーリーサマー、フェステバル、民生得意の哀愁を感じる曲で好きです。
それと、サプリメン、青春は聞いてるとパワーがみなぎってくるんで、これまた好きです。

　今作は演奏のかっこよさでは今までの民生作品の中で最高だと思います。特に２台エレキギターのコードカッティングの絡みが果てしなくいかしてます。ローリングストーンズみたいな味出してて素晴らしいです。チャーリードレイトンのタイトなスネアもいかしてるぜ。
　ロックファンの人に特におすすめです。
　僕は「何と言う」のギターと歌詞が一番かっこよくて好きです。きっとお気に入りの曲が１曲はできると思います。さあクルマにこのCD積んで出かけようぜぃ。（CCCDじゃないのも嬉しいなぁ）

このアルバムは、民生さんの試行錯誤の賜物だと思います。「アーリーサマー」の、ドラムの入り方や、韻の踏み方、「フェスティバル」のベースラインやら・・・聞いてて気持ちよくなってくる、不思議なアルバムだ。本人は、異常な努力をしてると思うけど、こんな歌をもっともっともっとたくさん作って欲しい。
