　03年5月25日の再結成来日コンサート名古屋公演はライブ・ハウスだった。　ブランクがあるとは言え全米No１を2曲も持つグループがである…　ちょっと無礼ではないかと思ったが、わずか2~3ｍの距離で彼女達のライブを体験できたのは逆に幸運であった。　モミクチャになりながら熱狂した最高のライブだった。（ベースのマイケルと何回も目が合ったのが気恥ずかしかった。）

　ところが、新作DOLL REVOLUTIONを引っ下げての来日だったのに、旧譜に関しては（恐らく）90年頃のマスターが依然として使用されていたようであり、今年3月になって米国でリマスター・ベストESSENTIALが発売された時も、国内では90年のGREATEST HITSに1曲加えて再発されたに留まった。（00年には米国でSACD化済みだから、せめてハイ・ブリッドで出すべきでしょ！）

　待つこと半年で本作が登場。　リマスターにより音質は秀逸。　選曲は自主制作デビュー・シングル (THE BANGS名義) 6、5曲入りEP BANGLESから10、1stLPからでCBSデビュー・シングル13(シングル・ミックス)、THE GOONIESのサントラから3、2ndLPから1（2位）4（29位）8（1位）2（11位）15、LESS THAN ZEROのサントラから14（2位）、3rdLPから12（5位）5（1位）11（30位）7、5のシングルB面9　以上15曲で収録時間約50分。　米国発売のシングル11枚全てのA面を収録したことで、米国で公式発売されたシングル・EP・LP・サントラの全てから漏れなく選曲されたことになり、タイトルのエッセンシャルに偽りない内容となっている。　解説・歌詞・対訳付き。　オススメの1枚。
